I guess this is the right forum for this since it is somewhat FFXI related...

Last night I had the strangest dream and unfortunatly I won't be able to describe it too well since the details are fading more and more with each passing minute. For some random background information my sister is ~2 years older than me, she graduated from high school in '94, we went to different high schools, I didn't start at Purdue until the summer/fall of '96, and I haven't been to Purdue since Dec. of '98. Ok...

In the dream I go with my sister to her high school and at this point nothing seems weird to me. We are standing around in an empty classroom waiting for god knows what reason and suddenly the room starts to fill in with other students. (some walk in and some just appear) Then it happens. A NM spawned in the classroom and I got the claim. (WTF is going on?) Long story short I die and my sister finishes it off. I am laying on the tile floor face down dead and a 60 minute timer started counting down to when I would go back to my homepoint. I can still talk to my sister because we are in a party together but I can't talk to anyone else/nobody else can hear what I say since I am dead (not sure if I am actually talking or we are reading each others thoughts). I ask her if she can {Raise} me and she said she'd try. She tries to cure me a couple and I called her a noob and laughed. She tells me she hasn't bothered getting that spell yet. I asked her to try to find me a Rasie and she goes about the process of looking for one. Once the timer was at ~15 minutes I started to notice worms/grubs/maggots starting to eat at my body. I then was slightly disgusted but more so pissed because I had my HP set at Purdue and it would take me an hour and a half to drive back home. WTF. Weird.

This totally needs a topic named, "You know you're obsessed when..."

Interesting dream though. :P

Intresting.. my class was just discussing dreams and maenings; what we heard was that if you die in your dream, you die in real life. Hence, when u "Fall" in ur dream, u never (really, unless u imagine it when u wakeup) hit the ground...

Now that's what I call an HP. I think it's Grand Prix week too. ^_^ {Hmmmm}

Grand Prix > Little 500. :D

As for dying in dreams and dying in reality I'd almost have to say that it's not true. I die in my dreams all the time. I'd say 98% of my dreams are lucid. I can control the things that happen. I remember a really good one that started off with Vampyres trying to kill us and I ended up making them turn me and then had some fun flying around terrorizing some people. Dreams = good times. Now if one were to die in a dream and yet not know that they were dreaming then who knows what would happen. I have yet to die in a dream that I didn't have some control over what took place. Even in the dream I described in my first post I wasn't "really" dead since I was still able to communicate, be revived, or simple had to go to my HP.

I had a dream kinda like that once... Only I was tanking a crawler in jeans and a t-shirt with a few of my friends and my idiot friend Naveronasis was over nuking and got himself killed.

On a side not, sometimes when I see it's a full moon out I think, I should craft/fish. It's honestly unsettling.

so if you respawned and de-lvl'd would you be a year younger and not able to wear your pants that are for lvl 18.

*respawns back at HP in boxers* O.O

Dreams are messed up. Whenever I try to take control of a dream that I am, oh shooting a gun for example, the gun will turn into a big bananna or something and it will all be for not. Imagine standing in the middle of a bunch of bad guys pointing your bananna at them. Oh yeah, owned....

hahah that is pretty funny. Yeah dreams can be crazy. Never had one about FFXi tho....now i kinda want to.

You have those dreams too huh? :shock:

I've had many FFXI related dreams since I started this game a year ago. Some scare the crap out of me some are incredibly stupid. The best one I've had though was me and friends being actually in the game. We were running around in like West Ron killing bunnies or some stupid shit like that. lol.

Most dreams, even non FFXI related dreams I get that stupid chat log talk now though. I hate reading my dreams. :evil:

I have lucid dreams too, I can almost always control the events much like writing a little story with weird random stuff happening.

I've never had a falling dream actually I guess I'm just not scared of heights. I have had several dreams about FFXI, even some about FFXI and WOW, (Its really screwed up to watch your Mithra and your Tauren having a conversation at a small white table over a glass of lemonade and discuss what kind of player you are...) I've also died a few times that I can remember. Its weird most people wake up when they die/about to die. For me everything just goes black and I go into deep sleep and lose lucid control because theres nothing left. I also dream in color. Some poeple say dreams are B&W only but I know I dream in color o_O;

The colors in my dreams are what typically allow me to first realize it's a dream and then control it. The colors in my dreams are usually insanly vivid and everything looks crisp and almost surreal. Then I notice the things that once seemed normal to actually be weird or out of place. Like before I realized it was dream it seemed perfectly normal for me to be standing on a warf in 1600 England, then I realize I'm dreaming, and then I say {Hmmm.} what am I doing on a warf in England in the 1600's??

Dreams are basically a recycle of what your brain has already seen and processed. I've had many a game related dream (whether it be halflife or ffxi or even popcap games LOL). Your brain is simply trying to take a jumble of images and thoughts, mixing them up and turning them into a semi-coherent "story". For instance, I ended up playing alot of Popcap games while FFXI was down. It's also the week of one of my youngest nephew's birthday. We're also having a new home built so I have been looking at various kid's rooms with my children to get an idea of what they want. I ended up having a dream where I was seeing gold coins and stars floating down inside my new home (insaniquarium), had a pet beetle (either insaniquarium or luxor) and both of my nephews were staying there. Apparently, I must've liked some girl's room that I saw because my nephews were now nieces and I was admiring their room in my dream. Of course, I'd never tell my sister that I dreamt her boys were actually girls. :lol: As you can see though, most aspects of this dream of mine had some correlation to things that I had seen, done or thought about lately. I tend to dream game stuff if I've been playing ALOT.

Dream control is not that hard. The ability to do so is to be able to acknowledge in your dream that you are indeed dreaming. Once you realize that you are the one in control of your own thoughts, you can go from there. If you're having a nightmare, controlling the dream can be a constant fight. Hence the gun that you imaged turning into a banana, Kittin. Next time you're facing off a bunch of bad guys in a dream with a banana, make the banana a "banana laser gun". :lol:

Yes, I can control my dream if i know its a dream and i've been able to turn a nightmare into a pleasent dream....kinda hard though.

Usually when I'm having a nightmare and someone is trying to kill me and I know I"m dreaming, I always make myself suddenly have the skills of Neo from the matrix. XDDDD

Anyway, I have plenty of FFXI dreams.....whats weird though is when my wife is in FFXI with me. WIFE AGGRO!! ZONE ZONE ZONE

I've had lots of dreams where I was in FFXI. Pretty spiffy. But what really worries me is when I dream that I'm PLAYING FFXI. You know... sitting at my computer mashing macros, or running around mining for hours XP Now that' just sad.

I have to say, there has been rarely a night where I DONT dream about FFXI ^^

:D

Actually, when I fall in my dreams, I always hit the ground. I never die from it, though:/ I usually get up and walk away with some stupid dream injury like a broken leg I can still walk on....

Yes, I do have that as a recurring dream. I used to call it a nightmare, but I have come to enjoy the fall a lot recently....
