student loan debt

I do go to a community college for generals, and i honestly don't see why more people don't. I pay less than 1/4 the price of some of my friends going to the University of Minnesota and almost 1/10 of the price of one of my friends that goes to a private college here. In the end, i'll have the same degree as my friend from the University of Minnesota, but will have paid a fraction of the price.

Contact your lender about getting a forbearance for the next year. While your interest will still accrue, you can avoid payments until you're able to get a job that will allow you to pay your monthly payments. Most lenders offer forbearance forms that can be filled out on their website so you don't even have to talk to a person if you don't want to. You'll generally have to fill them out yearly until you can afford your payments. Keep in mind, interest continues to accrue at the normal rates.

Alternatively you can get your payment plan changed to graduated (starts low and gets higher over a few years until it evens out) or an income-based payment plan.

I can't believe so many people are surprised to hear about tax-deferred loans, I thought MOST student loans were tax deferred. I just took a small loan for my remaining credits and tax deferred is all i would stand for.

Also, if you're making less than a certain amount after college, general stafford loans SHOULD have some mercy clauses, MY friend has a 120K loan that he still doesn't have to pay or accrue taxes on because hes in a live-in PHD program that only gives him a stipend of 20K a year.

So England has no interst eh? Maybe I'll go study there.... >.>

We do and i'm not sure on what the deal with foreign students getting student loans from our government is. Natives have to apply via their local student board. Scottish people get free Uni though. Lucky bastards.

Aside from your horrible job...

That'll do it too.

lol, it's not a horrible job, it's entry level, meaning bottom of the ladder

and yea i might have to curb my spending a bit on things like video games

Pur good points you made, alot are Prime + X.x%.

Like my credit card, varies from Prime +0 - Prime + 13% < where im at.

I know I can enroll to have my payments stopped and consolidated with new loans for when I go back to school, since your done, need to do forebearance or find a better job.

Heres a good job, I dont know where you live but you mentioned CS or something as a major right? Try applying for SAIC if they have a building in your location, they are a large (40k + employee) company that does primarily projects for military/government contracts.

https://cp-its-rmprd.saic.com/main/...PortalID=b341ba47-6d4f-4e87-b30f-1d5a7ce248eb just do your city (or a close one) and state for all positions being hired for.

Deducting from your location: you live in Buffalo, I know they have offices in NYC and they love to pay for relocating.

I'm not sure what you're doin' but entry level jobs around here (Dallas, TX), at least ones people go to school for, get you at least a 30-40k per year salary. I was makin' just under what you make now my senior year of high school through my first two years of college, when I quit. Sounds like whatever you're doin' you're gettin' either robbed or it's one of those fun jobs. My friend, a butcher at Winn Dixie in lil' ol' Oxford, Alabama brings home 25k a year, granted he's pretty much locked in on that, I can't imagine anything less.
