Funny, I've managed to play my class to Lv 40 with very few problems. Now that I'm at breastplate level, it'll be time to work out the logistics of how I want to use it in an xp party. Again, I see no reason why I need to keep Seer's gear on all the time after that initial 8 mp is burned off, other than during healing. Maybe I'll get annoyed at swapping gear all the time and just leave the Seer's on. Who knows?

If you can switch gear to dodge aggro, I can switch gear to heal some mp. Just relax.
 
Holy Breastplate is a waste of money. If you plan on getting hit, then maybe you need to rethink your whm playstyle.
 
Aren't you guys being a bit aggersive against the holy breastplate? Assuming they wear seers for healing it's not that big a deal. It's not on the same level as a melee,thief,rng,blm,tank missing that extra int,str,dex,agi, attack,mp,vit,defense or whatever there job needs. +9 mp before it's burned up, and then again seers for healing, that's more than enough with basic effort. At least that's what I'd do if I even cared about leveling my whm.

[/quote] I used Bishop Robe because I felt the MND would help me the most, specially with those white-based debuffs that the MND boost helps with, Slow / Para exctera. Someone needs to do those when there's a BRD instead of RDM.
I'd just like to point out when I'm on my bard I take care of slow since it's the best slow out there after the +1 instrument and mp free. Not to mention when you're with a bard instead of a whm the bard could do ice threnody at the start and make just about anyone's paralyze/frost land, not that it's needed anyway.

man, I had the breastplate for about four levels. I think I wore it once, then sold it.. If you know what you're doing, and your party knows what they're doing, then you don't need the stupid breastplate.

Hey, if you'd rather wear the piece of armor and bene yourself and worry about death instead of just /disband and find a better party, thats up to you.

I don't know what level your BRD is, but at level 40 you WON'T be affecting with your WHM sub. Your enfeebling magic will be capped at that of a lvl 20 WHM, no way in hell something IT to 40 will get it.
 
When in a random party, I am wearing the breastplate. Always. The only way you will get it off me is by prying if off my cold dead body.

Static is something different, but then again, statics always break the standard mold.

And for God's sake!!! It's got the word BREAST in it!!!!!

I am the white mage in Jag's party. He doesn't cast slow using white magic...he uses a bard song. I basically cast VERY few enfeebs because Jag slow's the mob and the NIN/WAR tank uses ninja tools to paralyze and blind the mob. And to those of you saying get a better party...you'd be hard pressed. We used to have a PLD tank...we now have a NIN/WAR tank and though he does a great job...there are times when he is not able to hold the hate from the other DD's. And Panda...I've only had to bene like two or three times EVER..it happens...sometimes you get a pop or a link or just plain bad luck. It's nice to survive it especially when you're somewhere remote and the only one with raise :twisted:
 
To the OP, I'd strongly suggest you shut the hell up and not call WHMs retards for wearing Holy Breastplate. When I dinged 40, guess what I was wearing.

In my opinion, the 45 (I think, I can't remember offhand) DEF at that level completely overwhelms any other MINOR (Whee, +8 MP, and that didn't even exist at the time.) stat bonuses you get at that level, especially since no, to be perfectly honest, I do NOT trust tanks in pickup parties, and I don't have a static just yet.

As for Seer's, post 40 it does have a use.
Macro it in while healing. Lv62 and I still use that right alongside my Dark Staff.

So here's an idea. Stop insulting most White Mages and play WHM to 40 in parties where the PLD forgets to voke and the THF doesn't understand Trick Attack and see if you don't want that defense.
 
I would have no problem if people used macros. You are all just saying the same thing over and over. It's lik eyou work on hive minds or something. I am just saying you guys should use gear that is useful and hit your macro when you pick up hate. You'd have faster acces to your macros if you didn't macro everythign in. I'm gonna blow the world up if I see:

/p Curing <t>! Don't die on me! <annoyingsound15>

Is it just me or is it simpler to just go thru your menu and cast it.

Anywas, my point is he who uses macros is always (yes, always) the better player.
Macros make good players into great players.

Anyways, I have said what I have to, you guys can keep supporting your point with no facts. (and I use the term "support" lightly. Very lightly.)

And then, if one of us dies for the SOLE REASON that we're not wearing breastplates, you can sit in your room where your ps2 or computer is and say to yourself, "I told you so" and feel so much better about yourself. The debate about what one should WANT or NEED to have on themselves for any given scenario is hilarious.

Everyone has their own opinions on gear. TomAto, TomAHto...
A well prepared player brings gear for a variety, if not all occasions.

If someone has a reason for or against a certain piece of gear, that is only their opinion. Putting your nose where it doesn't belong, when it's not warranted, will get that honker ripped right off.

Keep the opinions to yourself, if you don't know what you are talking about. And if you do know what you are talking about, at least try to be constructive about it and not talk down.

ummm...i'm not sure who you're directing this to. I am not TELLING anyone what they should use. I'm simply stating why I wear a breastplate. :? I couldn't give a shit what anyone wears...both my jobs are in statics..thank god.
 
Who knows, maybe I'm just sour that BLMs don't get anything like the Breastplate. Maybe I shoul dbe taking my anger out on SE, huh? Whatever, wear what you want but don't get mad if you don't get invited or you ge kicked from my party for wearing it w/o having a Seers.

I'm not the kinda guy who kicks people cus they can't afford things. I kick people because they don't try to be their best or they don't give a damn.

but if what you guys are saying is basically do whatever you want then my BLM is is gonna be scything the mob if I ever get into a party with one of you.

lol..i just think it's funny that this is even a flame...i mean is it REALLY that big of a deal?? I will say thank you. I have my seer's gear still and since I only play whm once a week in a static had forgotten about macro'ing it in when I'm healing...so THANKS! :D

If I'm ever using whm slow as a brd/whm you can shoot me dead ok? I use Battlefield elegy with the proper instrument to enhance it farther. We have the best slow in the game, even more so with the upgraded version at 60. And by the way, all my jobs are in my comment below my name if you want a better idea of them. Since para and slow can be taken care of without the use of mages, it really doesn't matter for us not that she couldn't land it anyway.
