Stupid BLMs

I really hate flaming anyone, but it really just ticks me off when a mage(or any melee job) BLATANTLY tries to get hate off of me then in turn blames me for a death, or near death because I couldn't "keep hate better". They need to understand that it is physically IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to keep hate from a suicidal BLM, or a RNG/SAM spamming Sidewinder, in the case of my last PT this was the case:

Zhantohn: BLM60(59 mabye)
Helix: 61DRK(good member)
Threshould: 61WHM(ok member but used high level cures too much)
Me: 60PLD
Allyepin(sp?): 59RNG(very nice, good member)

First off, it took almost 3 hours to get from Kuftal Tunnel to Valley of Sorrows, because I was mislead and invited to what they said was a good full pt, when I arrived it was a pt of 4 people and they were "still looking for members" when I got there. Finally we began to xp which was very low being that the WHM leveled to 62 on the first fight and we got 50-100 exp maximum(Peryton's 150-201).

So far this is just a pt, but then I notice I lose hate every fight within 15 seconds and struggle to get hate back, which has not happened for a good 30 levels for me, and realize that the BLM(Zhantohn) is using Ancient Magic before SATA on the DRK even goes off. I ask him to stop, he says "thanks for the opinion I didn't ask for" and continues to use AM. After a while, I again notice that I'm getting even less hate, because he is now using AM and his most powerful -ga spells 4-5 times a fight, spamming 300-900 DMG and that is literally impossible to get hate off of. He almost died once, which he got very mad on and blamed me for being sucky and not being able to keep it off him, saying "your the PLD, your supposed to keep hate the whole fight, do your job ass" which almost persuaded me to leave, but I stayed and got 1.5k exp more, then disbanded about a hour later.

Is this acceptable for a BLM to use Ancient Magic often and spam high damage(and high MP) spells and possibly be trying to get hate off me just to make me look bad? I don't know about this and I'm split between the disicion that I'm either just a bad tank or this was a suicidal BLM that was being stupid with his spells. Opinion {Can I have it?}
 
From your post it looks like the BLM bought his account on ebay and has the noob condition of over nuking, How can people lvl past 50 and still not have a clue.
 
Zhantohn, he was pting right next to me, he has no AF, doesn't even have good non-af gear, and I noticed him using tons of -ga spells in his pt and would do blink/stoneskin and nuke the hell out of it (not a good idea in normal exp pt, too much mp used, makes chaining harder, and is very dangerous).

-ga spells and AM shouldn't be used in exp pts outside of a MB (and a -ga or normal spell is probably better than AM)

Burst(the spell) Folowed by Firega II and Water III right after that...
He didn't Magic Busrt, and new little to nothing about Conserving MP.

For me, this was a good oppretunity to test out my Hate traffic controlling as a thief and to pull while he had no MP. THings worked out allright. But I had to pull every trick out of my bag to keep hate on the tank.

Otherwise he did get the job done, albeit very inefficiently. The one thing that really set off some of the people in my group was the repeated use of -ga spells while we had mobs sleeping nearby...
 
Your BLM was simply an idiot. He may of bought the account like mentioned before but you did nothing wrong if he is using AM before even SATA or a 2nd voke. A BLM has more they can do in the first 30 seconds of a fight then start casting high lvl -ga spells or AM. But if it's all as you said you did nothing wrong.. if anything I would of stuck around for the challenge ... or until he died :twisted:
 
I'll be honest, I suck at BLM. I hate it!!!! Laur and Yanz are definitely the people who's input I would take to heart here, but I do know enough about blm that you don't nuke like that from the start. My first cast was always Frost, I would wait for the main tank to build some hate before I'd start really sticking it to the mob, and I tried as much as possible to nuke about every 10 seconds. But again, I'm not the best blm. I used to send tels to Laur and ask him what MB I should use. Bad Kat :oops:

Sweet jebus--I partied with this guy in the jungle way back (he was WHM), and he thought it was funny to Divine Seal + Curaga midbattle. I guess not a whole lot has changed in 30+ levels.
 
Yeah...he would use Cure V 5-6 times in fight because "it got no hate".
 
Yea.. your blm definitely should have gotten the boot. Spammng AM and -ga spells? WTF? although the one thing that would have pissed me off about the blm is his inability to accept criticism/advice. If I'm in a party and I do something wrong, and someone says so(assuming it makes sense) I listen to them! Why? Because I'm always trying to improve myself as a blm. This joke of a blm and his stubborness pisses me off, and baffles me as to why he reached 60+....
 
He sounds like not only should he be booted but someone should smack him in real life for incompetencey.
 
The leader should've kicked that BLM. I hate people who do that. Next time you pt with someone like that, just let them die. :x
 
Why don't black mages understand that their job isn't just to NUKE the fuck out of something? As a BLM, if there's no RDM, I debuff, toss a few nukes, and magic burst. I don't spam Blizzard II. I rarely run out of MP, and I NEVER draw hate. God. Idiots.
 
good blm = under stands fight and understands hate
good pld= PURPOSELY loses hate so 2nd voker can tunr mob

as for a blm that purposely just wanted to irratate you by over nuking is a complete dumbshit/
i PTed with Zha b4 he was a really bad blm.

to keep hate is one thing, but to control hate is another.
im a lvl 69 PLD, and the hardest thing thus far from 1-69 for me so far was controlling hate so the 2nd voker could turn the mob.
 
I see that little twerp in Windy woods all the time afk bazaaring by the MH entrance....is he still level 60 in all tact magician's gear lol?
 
Zhanton invited me the other day. I accept and I am one of three people in the party.
/sigh.

He then says (as leader) that he will be AFK and that I should look for members...Which I was already doing form the moment I noticed we didn't have a full party. I'd make suggestions, and he wouldn't say anything about them, until I asked specifically, "Did you invite so and so?"

"Uh, no."
OR
"Um..."

Was the typical answer I got.
I changed to my NIN and got a solid party immediately.


God damn I hate leveling from 10-20. ><
 
You should've let him eat a death or two. Parties need to work together to control hate.

I did not blame you for any death, and if you lose hate perhaps it's because I'm a little over-aggressive on my spells. I use Stoneskin, Blink and Aquaveil in case I draw the hate to me. I've been in partys where the others can hold hate with no problem while I cast. If you can't, maybe you need to work on that.

I'm sorry, but I don't know a whole lot about SATA yet cause I never played a thief. As for where you mentioned I said, "thanks for the opinion I didn't ask for", that's a total lie. As for the mp used when casting ancient magic, I can recover fast with my items I equip while resting to restore mp, along with a good rdm refresh spell. With a good party I never have problems.

I don't have AF armor yet because it's so hard to get, and it's so hard to find anyone to help me get it. It's too hard for a blm to solo it. Non AF gear at my level is very expensive, and it's very hard to get gil in this game to buy it. Besides, I think the gear I have now is good. And what's wrong with Stoneskin and Blink?

I was not originally the leader of that party, it was passed to me as you joined. I don't remember going afk and asking you to look, I don't do that as leader. Why would I ask you to look for members if I was leader? I think you have me mixed up with the original leader which I think was a young kid who didn't seem to know much of what partying was all about.

Well there you have it; my replies to the posts here thus far about me. I do the best I can in this game, I try to listen to advice, and I don't know everything about the game, so don't expect me to. If I'm a little over-aggressive in my spell casting, I'm sorry. I just like to kill the mob quick and do a lot of damage so I feel like I'm doing my job ok. I usually have buffs on to cover any hate I may get and mp recovery items I equip when I'm resting. It's funny how I never hear any complaints like those on these posts when I'm in a good party...

In real life, I'm 51 yrs. old, and I'm just trying to have fun with this game and still learning everyday. It's a pity so many of you have to slander someone just because things don't go your way and you think you know everything. Good luck.. Take care.. See you again!
