Stupid Microsoft....I hate you!

GRRRRRR.........ok ok, so here goes:

I had just put in a new Mobo and processor, formatted my HDD and installed Windows XP Pro. I reinstalled all my stuff, interent, final fantasy, etc. So I get on the internet and start downloading windows updates, works fine, then I update final fantasy, still fine.

So then things start to get hairy, I download Windows XP service pack 2 and that is when shit hit the fan. My computer didnt like SP2, my internet didnt like SP2 and it told me so. It wouldnt work, and when it did, it was slow as all hell. FFXI wouldnt load up, I could surf one second and the next it was giving me server errors.

I call my ISP and they lead me thru some steps to restore it, to no avail. So what do I end up doing? I uninstall SP2 and go back to the way things were. Low and behold, my internet now works like a charm and the moral of the story is:

MICROSOFT XP SERVICE PACK 2 IS THE DEVIL!!!!! Fuck SP2, because of it I couldnt get on the game and I couldnt do anything.
 
i would agree.

screw sp2 because of that god damm service pack i have had to format my hard drive twice.

see now if you rearange the letters of sp2 you get ps2 and you dont have to worry about shit like that. it will always play when you want it too ;)
 
SP2 was rushed and buggy. They have still yet to fix the fatal amd 64 bug. I was so close to hitting myself with that one before I saw it on my roommates machine. That was not pretty. :x
 
The weird thing about microsoft service packs is that while worth it, is usually a gamble. And sooner or later, you will be reqiured to do so anyway.

Another thing is the rate of bad installations is high. I've found that simply uninstalling the service pack and reinstalling it, alot of times fixes alot of problems. Of course there is always the chance that something terribly wrong will happen, but its normally never irreversable.
 
I haven't updated my Version of Windows XP Pro since I got it cuz I'm scared. :shock:
 
i never, ever get updates from Microcrap, its always bad news.

I had to format my hard drive recently because my wifes XP pro kept sayin i needed to register it, and sayin my code was no longer valid. so after 30 days, it stopped letting me use my pc :/

So i borrowed XP home from her parents and reinstalled it and did all the updates.
Latley my PC has been a piece of crap.
It runs so damn slow, The internet goes out all the time,
while i play FFXI on ps2, I can still play FFXI but my internet craps out all the freakin time.

Ive been trying to find a solution to this....and i never freakin thought it was Sp2....and now im gonna have to get rid of that crap, since i already uninstalled Internet Explorer....

Internet explorer is the reason i had to format my drive, a virus got through it....when i wasnt using it. And rendered my PC unusuable, Pop ups would come up with pictures of the devil, and diseases saying "IM ON YOUR COMPUTER! MY NAME IS LEET KILLA!"
or "IM WATCHING YOU" "THIS IS MY NEW HOME, THANK YOU"

and THE WORST ONE OF ALL was when i ran a virus scanner and THOUGHT i removed it
when i rebooted a pop up had a picture of a guy laughing and it said
"IM STILL HERE IDIOT"

Microsoft sucks.

Anyway. SP2 works just fine for me =/ I have SP2 and play FFXI. But I don't use Internet Explorer, I use Firefox instead :P
 
hehe- I never got any service packs for XP Pro, because my copy was . . . liberated . . . from a friend of mine who had a Gold edition. So it wouldn't let me download them anyway, without the registration info. >_>; Yay for me? lol
 
if you dont want to worry about doing the sp2 service pack, change the windows sign on screen or the windows startup splash screen. doing that, the sp2 will NOT install. i have customized my xp totally from splash screen, sign in screen, theme, etc, and its a known bug that will not allow u to even install sp2
 
Delete SP 2 and turn off automatic windows updates, simple as :wink:
 
yep i deleted it and turned my auto updates to where it has to go thru me before i download anything.
 
There's a very simple solution to the whole Windows XP SP2 mess, and it looks good, too.

Hello all. This is my first post on the Flameboards, so I thought I'd break the ice. Anyway, I know I'm a little late to the party, but I have to agree that Windows as a whole, just sucks, especially IE. I have switched to Firefox and will never look back, but I just have one question. Just how can I uninstall IE from my computer. Even though I dont even use it, I still get freaking pop-ups from IE. Chasym mentioned he did, but I can't find the lil son-of-a-bitch under the Uninstall Programs menu. If anyone could tell me how, I'd much appreciate it. Oh, please forgive the long post, but I'm in love with the sound of my own voice, even if it is in my head.
