Ok, if there are three jobs in this game that ABSOLUTELY HAVE to have the BEST equipment available it is WAR PLD and NIN. If anyone disagrees with that go out and play with a few poorly equipped tanks and you'll be saying different real fast. Having played NIN to higher lvls and not PLD or WAR I can't say for the other two jobs but NIN gets completely and utterly thrashed when your equipment is not perfect and the best that is available.
Seeing poorly equipped NINs pisses me off because i KNOW what it takes to be a good NIN tank. I also know that when a NIN tank is poorly equipped that the party will "progress" (if you can even call it that) extremely slowly ESPECIALLY before refresh. -another whine-fest for another post XD-
SO the other day I was partying in the nest *shudders* as BLM, and I get invited to a PT led by Neogearzx. I'd played with him on other jobs and he was reasonably good, if not great, at them so i was like, woohoo, a pt with a non-noobesque tank, finally. We get to fighting and I see that his shadows are going down extremely fast (he had Utsusemi: Ni even) and he was just getting trashed to hell. I was having to help heal because the WHM couldn't keep up, there was no second voker to try to take heat off him. No THF to help with hate controll. There are NINs out there that can keep hate without a THF, unfortunately they are few and far between. Neogearzx is not one of them. I couldn't cast a single spell stronger than Thunder, and a lot of the times I couldn't even cast that, without getting hate and I have -1 emnity.
So anyway I check his equipment finally. No emp hairpin. No belt at all. no earrings at all. A ballance ring and a wedding ring. No cape/mantle at all. a spike necklace. Boots pants gloves and gi were all outdated by 15 or so lvls. About the only up to date piece of equipment he was wearing were his katanas. It was a miracle we had been able to keep him alive so long.
OK, sure I can see someone hopping on a job to help a friend out or something but dude, if you're going to XP with that job to help that friend, and you're doing something like tanking which requires the absolute best in equipment, DON'T BOTHER!!! Seriously, that may cut it in the dunes or qufim but dude, as much as people may bitch about the CN being the mid lvl valk you ARE expected to have some semblance of being a tolerable player there. We got 900 xp in an hour and I was like, dude, your equipment is god awful and you can't tank worth crap, I'm leaving, Laterz =P
The moral of this story:
Don't tank crapily with crappy equipment or Marael will bitch about your noobtastic skillz in a stupidly long rant/post that no one will want to read through anywaym to people that probably won't do anything about it or even give a damn about the words coming out of her head and ignore her like everyone IRL does XD.
