Ok, I thought this might be an alright suggestion. I'm just trying to see if it just makes sense to me.
My suggestion is to add a sub forum to the Event Scheduling section.
It would be named something along the lines of "Short Notice/Day of Events/Parties"
There have been so many times I've been waiting for a party or trying to make one where I might just need one person. That one person may just be surfing on QCDN looking for something to do and if they saw my post, they would join.
The event scheduling works well, but I find the time between posting and the event time usually causes some people to forget (which is a completely unrelated problem about people's memories). However, if I'm wanting to level, I'm not sure if I can really plan two weeks in advance to level an exp party because I'm unsure of my schedule.
There was the post about being able to seek on multi-jobs but Square enix would be unlikely to comply with that request.
So kind of just copying my post from that thread, I would just suggest a Section where people would post:
1) What jobs they're willing to level
2) When they're willing to level
3) How long they have to level.
OR
4) You could even try to post what you need in a party. "Would like a Refresher/tank/DD/etc?" and while you're searching in game, someone might read it and send a tell.
5) Or what event they're doing or need people for (as sometimes you fall short of someone who didn't show up or just need to fill that last person for ZM4 or Mission 5).
For it to be effective, people would actually have to post fairly close to when they're looking to party. "I'm going to party next week," doesn't usually hold and will be at the bottom of the topics by then. As most people are able to access the internet while playing FFXI, they could easily check out the forum and post if they're seeking and that might even bring a poster into the game to level.
IE: "73 BLM looking to level asap <2:19 MST May 13> 3 hours to party"
And if someone needed me, they could send me a tell in game. I could actually be farming or levelling a low level job or helping someone out in the meantime.
I have a lot of time today so I can actually write this long post. If it doesn't make sense...well, I'm also tired..
