Suggestion: Retro Gaming board.

Well seeing as we have a Gaming Board, hows about a "Retro" gaming board for stuff like the Atari 2600, NES, Colecovision, MSX2, Master System, SNES, Megadrive/Genesis, Saturn, N64, PS1, Dreamcast etc.

After all alot of us have fond memories of these games and were an important part of our childhoods. I'm sure many of us would like to recall their favourite memories or their least favourite games with some mild rage ^^

They could be put into these categories:

Old Skool Nintendo;

For the discussion of NES/Famicom, SNES/Super Famicom and N64 games

SEGA~!!

For the discussion of the Master System, Megadrive/Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast games

Time to play Atari today =D

For the discussion of the classic system that helped build and almost kill the industry, the Atari 2600, 5200, 2800, 7800, Lynx, Jaguar, and Flashback.

The Sony Playstation;

The system which brought us a proper CD based system... after the deal between Sony and Nintendo was botched XD

Other Retro Gaming systems;

For the other systems Intellivision, Colecovision, MSX, MSX2, PC Engine, Commodore 64 and other systems/games.

The Failures!

The games and systems which made us cringe, cry, rage and played a negative impact in our lives, whichever they may be!

I don't think they would generate enough traffic. If anything, just a single board for older stuff, call it Last Gen or some shit like that. Even this seems a bit of a stretch to be necessary because the Nintendo section already covers NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, and Wii. Sony already takes care of PS1-3. The only other big ones that would be needed were Sega and Atari, but honestly, what do you really have to say about shit that old? "Man, those Pong graphics were off the fucking hook."

Truth be told, I'm trying to shrink down the boards at the moment so this probably won't be out too soon. :S

The only older systems that could really get conversation going are the Turbo Grafix, the Saturn, and the PS1 as they were very different from any other older console. Even then, most of their old games are on the VC now, so that puts them in the nintendo section. Otherwise as already said, the Sony board covers the other.

No one's really even talking about the older systems/games, there's no reason to make a separate board for it, let alone 6 of them.

A general sub-forum inside the gaming forum would for this would work wouldn't it? Wouldn't make the front page larger, only the gaming board itself.
Putting all the gaming forums there would work too. Just have one forum labeled "Gaming" and just have sub-forums for all the categories. This would shrink the board like Miros is tryin to do, and give you your retro gaming board.

The three console boards and the PC board have one or two active threads each. Hell, the nintendo board is barely even alive anymore. Then you have the multiplatform board, where sometimes topics are hard to place because exclusivity comes and goes.
Just mash them alltogether. The entire gaming category probably gets as much traffic as RSI anyway.

I took your response as a platform to step up on the soapbox and say what I'd meant to put in my first post.

I am definitely onboard with Miros here. I am dying to get the ignore shit going so people can customize there views. That, combined with usergroup forums, and we might be able to bring QCDN back down to a manageable board.
