The latest issues of Famitsu has revealed Konami newest project, Suikoden Tierkreis for the Nintendo DS. This portable title is a brand new game in the Suikoden series and will feature 3D characters, voice acting, and cinematic cutscenes. The game is an estimated 50% complete at this time.

Suikoden Tierkreis includes touch screen functionality to move battles along at a speedy pace. The game still looks to feature the series staple 108 characters, but the party size has appeared to drop to a maximum of four in battle. It is stated that Tierkreis will have support characters and new races. The quest appears to involve a new main character attempting to reunite the 108 heroes after a tragic loss to the game's villain. Unfortunately, no release date has been stated as of yet. There is also no word of a North American release, though the name has been trademarked in the US, time will tell.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

I <3 Suikoden! Suikoden II is my favorite game of all-time!

Yay for new suikoden game.

But IV had only 4 characters in battle and that game sucked ass >_> Hopefully this will be much better

Looks interesting, I need to buy/beat FFIV first before I consider this one though. Looks pretty awesome though.

Suikoden II was amazing, although I never could get round to beating the evil King/Prince dude coz he was simply too strong for me ; ;. I wanted to buy the other suikoden games but they never actaully made it to England, this looks interesting. My DS has seen alot of play time lately compared to my PSP.

Most excellent. I love the Suikoden games save 4 and Tactics. I still remember finding Suikoden II in the cheap bin at EBGames like 5 years ago for $7 lol

I found one in Walmart. It didn't have a price-tag. The manager was like: uh.. I guess I'll give it to you for $15.

SCORE.

Suikoden III was pretty good too. XD

Finally, a game that makes me thoroughly look forward to my 20-30 minute stints on the toilet.

I hate you ; ;

yeah, well check this one out...50p ($1) for Suikoden II...no word of a lie...

Eh I've had my copy since my 15th(?) birthday, got it as a gift then.
Though I wish they'd bring Suikoden I and II PSP to North America, or even Europe and I'd import it, I'd kill to be able to play those on the go (legally).
It's been out in Japan for 2.5+ years, so I doubt we'll ever see it this late.

Yea dude, don't hold your breath on that one XD

Slight update:

Suikoden: Tierkreis is going international. Konami Computer Entertainment America sent out a press release confirming they will publish the Nintendo DS Suikoden game outside of Japan. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since Konami registered a trademark for Suikoden: Tierkreis back in August.

Only three members of the Stars of Destiny are around at the beginning of the game. Your task is to revive the other 104 and usurp an almighty king. Kings, they’re always evil. You have a lot of characters to control, but you don’t have to level up all of them alone. Characters can be sent on quests via Nintendo Wi-Fi where other members of the Suikoden: Tierkreis community pick up transferred characters and complete the quests. When transmitted characters return home they come back with new skills and treasures. This system reminds me of Fire Emblem’s troop loaning system, but it sounds deeper.

We’ll have to wait until an undetermined time to find out how this exactly works since Suikoden: Tierkreis does not have a specific release date in any region.

So at least it will be released outside of Japan, just no idea when, I'm liking the idea of Wi-Fi quests to get new items and skills though.

I'm buying this regardless, but it better not be a completely new land with only Viki and Jeane as returning characters.

It's in a new land, not idea if anyone other than Viki and Jeane will be returning.
No idea if Viki or Jeane will be in it either, but should be, though Viki wasn't in Tactics, and neither were in the Genso Suikogaidens.
