Super Bowl History...

More Super Bowl history:

Hester had the first opening kick-off touchdown return in a Super Bowl.

Rex Grossman was the first quarterback to sack himself twice in the same drive.

I won 300 bucks because of my Super Bowl pool, but it still sucks hard that we lost.

Seriously, Rex, I hate you.

And to fumble himself twice. At least he recovered one of them.

"the best thing you can say about this drive is that at least he didnt hand them the ball this time."

Pretty much.
I'd like to have faith in the guy, but I don't really see him being a great QB, ever. He's too much of a wimp.

It's the Super Bowl, dude! Step it up. Hold on to the ball. Don't repeatedly make the dumbest mistakes ever. And most importantly, when the big mean defensive linemen come for you, drop where you are, or fight for a yard or two. Don't run like a bitch backwards 20 yards and then get your ass handed to you. Remember what direction you're headed, Rex. GG. :/

You can't put it all on rex. The Bears strength is supposed to be their defense, and their D did not show up. They played like shit and let the Colts completely dominate the time of possession. The only thing good about the Bears D last night was their red zone defense.

I don't think their D was that bad, they forced turnovers and didn't give up tons of points. Chicago had the underneath game open all 2nd half and kept throwing deep. ToP came from lack of any sort of drives from thier O.

They were never really out of it until halfway through the 2nd half, their Offense didn't do enough. It's true they are a D team, but you can't forgive the offense for 3 and outs.

They also had weather on their side, at the very least, they should have been able to deal with slippery balls better than the Colts. The Colts were fumbling around too, but the advantage should have been the Bears'.

4 turnovers didnt help. If the offense couldve held the ball for more than one play, they coulda kept Peyton on the bench and had some time to rest. They still stepped up big in most red-zone situations and held them to a few field goals. The Bears offense did NOTHING all game. One kickoff return, one good run by Jones, and a gift field goal after a turnover.

Lovie Smith, the first African American Head Coach, to lose a SuperBowl. :old:
He's also the first coach named after a Giligan's Island character to lose a Super Bowl.

That was, overall a rather poor performance from the bears, that's all their is to say, they didn't fail on offence or coaching or defense, they failed as a team, nobody any more or less than anyone else. except Rex, who failed more.

But most importantly the white and blue got it done.

The saddest part is Vang isn't around to enjoy the pleasure of rubbing this win in everyone's face.

This super bowl also had the most overall turnovers in the superbowl for the 1st quarter @ 4.

Football paid two months rent this season, can't beat that. Just a lil' FYI to the "I hate Rex" fanclub, he's always sucked, not just last night. Did you not see that comming?

I dunno how you guys can blame it on the defense... They were on the field.. what, 38? 40? minutes... With such a lopsided time of possession, the defense gets really tired... It's hard to keep up with a speed time like the colts when you're tired. I blame Rex.

I agree. He has nothing that good QBs have. Where defenses can score points, you can't rely on them to win games.

Gould is the best thing about their offense. lol

It also didn't help that NFL confrences were just as lopsided as college confrences always are. It gave Bears fans everywhere false hope that they actually had a good team for the first time in ages :/ They didn't notice they really sucked, still, until last night. Now, they're left blaming it on Rex and other things XD Ohio State Wha wha??

I noticed it. They played some good games to be certain, but were so inconsistent. It's really a wonder they made it as far as they did.

Everyone blames Rex, because of the whole, "When he's on, he's on...And when he's off, he's really off" thing.

The Bears were lucky that the defense picked up his slack all season to get them that far. Anyone who didn't see that is blind.

It's not "on or off", it's "good or bad". He's not a HoFer or star player, that's for sure.

Stole the words out of my fingers.

Best commentary comment:
"This (referring to the football) is the most important part of the game"

It's not word for word but I thought it was hilarious.

That, and Prince getting away with the penis silhouette he did with the guitar during the half-time show.
