Ok, well first I should go admit and put it out there that I had been trying out
supplements for the first time a few months back. My supplement of choice was namely Gakic, a new form of energy-enhancing muscle and stamina builder.

A new era in musclebuilding performance has arrived.
GAKIC® – a dietary supplement unlike any other – is the biggest bodybuilding breakthrough ever! New to bodybuilders, athletes, and sports enthusiasts, GAKIC has been in development for 8 years. That's 8 years of research including, testing, clinical studies, and refinement. Why 8 years? Well, we all know that greatness takes time. A great mind takes years to develop, a great physique takes years to build, and a great supplement should be no different. The game has changed, the rules will have to be altered, performance will have to be redefined, your success however, is imminent. GAKIC has officially arrived.

It's not like creatine, it's not a stimulant, and it's definitely not your generic pre-workout supplement. GAKIC is a patented pre-workout musclebuilding supplement that is unlike anything you've ever seen or tried before!

GAKIC has already created a buzz in an industry starved for musclebuilding supplements that are backed by real science. The good news is that there's a whole heap of science to support GAKIC. This includes the gold-standard of scientific studies that have actually been published in well-respected publications such as Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise. And guess what? These studies show the one thing that separates GAKIC from the countless sports supplements released every year: GAKIC really works!

In fact, in one study, glycine-l-arginine-alpha-ketoisocaproic acid calcium supplementation significantly increased the total muscle work performed during intense sets of resistance training by an average of 10.5 percent. In the same study, glycine-l-arginine-alpha-ketoisocaproic acid calcium supplementation was shown to significantly increase fatigue resistance by up to 28 percent when compared with the placebo. Bottom line: You'll train harder, train longer, and get bigger.

To get bigger, you have to pass new barriers by blasting through your body's normal fatigue threshold, also known as “failure”. After years of scientific scrutiny, researchers believe that one of the key mechanisms responsible for the performance-enhancing effects of glycine-l-arginine-alpha-ketoisocaproic acid calcium is the removal of the fatigue toxin ammonia, which can interfere with normal muscle metabolism and generally limit muscular power output. With decreased fatigue toxin levels, you can perform more work. This can eventually translate into better muscular gains as your training intensity and strength improve over time.

Bottom line: You'll train harder, train longer, and get bigger.

Simply put, GAKIC is designed to help your body deal with metabolic fatigue, the by-products lactic acid and ammonia, and thus delay the moment of failure - helping you get 1, 2, or even 3 more reps in, allowing you to get more explosive performance in just minutes. That's what GAKIC can do for you. And that's why it's so revolutionary. Once you train with GAKIC, you'll never want to train without it.

Need to break out of a frustrating plateau? GAKIC will give you the ammo you need to get more explosive reps on each and every set. Instead of reaching failure at the rate you normally would, GAKIC can help you do more work, train more intensely, and blast muscle fibers you never knew you had. We're talking about a musclebuilding supplement designed to make every single workout your very best.

Interview with Dr. Bruce Stevens, world's leading authority on glycine-l-arginine-alpha-ketoisocaproic acid calcium, key components in GAKIC.

Better yet, GAKIC works immediately! All you need to do is take it minutes before you train. There's no loading, cycling, or maintenance phases, just take your serving of GAKIC before you train and get ready to experience more explosive performance. GAKIC is available in either powder or caplet form and one bottle of GAKIC will last one full month if you train an average of four times per week.

Now, I have been a life-long athletic enthusiast, and I must say I couldn't imagine a life without a lot of physical activity. For me, whether it be Football, baseball, track and field, shotput and discus, lifting weights or long-distance running, sports and athleticism have been a major thing for me in my life.

So, I had never previously used any sort of supplement to work out, or play sports. I've always relied on a good balanced diet, and fucking hard work. About 5 months ago though, I decided to try out a supplement, as mentioned above, and picked up some Gakic through word of mouth and lable reading.

At first I really didn't like the stuff, I am generally a calm person, unless engaged in sports, and Gakic really put me on a rage I've never felt before. I really don't know what it was, but I found myself becoming exorbitantly pissed off once the pills kicked in. Of course, this was beneficial to an extent during my workouts, as any sports enthusiast knows, you just perform better when you have an attitude to give you an edge on your exercise. In any case, after a few weeks of Gakic though, I noticed some pretty goddamn impressive improvements. For one, the stuff prevented me from getting sore at all. Along with a couple others that were taking it, the results were the same. I would kick my ass in the gym, to the extent where on a normal day, I would feel backbroken and used up after the workout, but while taking this supplement, I would finish the workout with tired as hell muscles, but still had plenty of energy.

The effects of having a lack of lactic acid buildup in worked muscles were extremely impressive, and I found my muscle strength elevated to a point I could not previously reach in my highschool days. I was really beginning to like this supplement.

Fast forward two and a half months later, when I run out of my four month supply, and stop taking it. I've noticed some pretty wierd crap going on since I have come off of it. There was no addiction (thank god) or a feeling of need for it, but I have noticed some pretty detrimental things that need mentioning.

For one, my metabolism has gone haywire. I mean, absolutely haywire, to the point where I just do not understand what the hell is going on. Normally, I eat a decent sized portion for the amount I work out, and I regulate it extremely. I do not drink soda, eat fast food, or other greasy, sugar-loaded, high in saturated fat foods. And yet, after coming off of this stuff, I have gained 8 pounds in the last two-three weeks alone off of the minimal diet I have. This concerns me, because this is a 5% body weight gain, and I know for a fact it is not muscle, because I suddenly have a small flac jacket that I am not used to seeing. I mean, it's nothing much at all, but still noticeable.

Another thing, which I am not sure if this is related or not, but since my coming off of this, I have this constant burning feeling in my Esophagus, much like a constant mild heartburn. This goes away and comes back periodically.

In the long run, my point is basically, for those that are workout enthusiasts and are new to supplementation like I was, please pick carefully, and even consider just not taking them at all. It may seem really very tempting seeing others using various supplements, seeing the ads with hugely strong people ( I know this is a factor for a couple people I know, I guess there are magazines filled with nothing but supplement ads, which was news to me ) but in all honesty, nothing will feel more satisfying than breaking down your own personal barriers by yourself. While I broke down a wall I could never break when I was younger, I am putting my body through some wierd involuntary withdrawals from just one type of supplement, and its all non-intentional. I can only hope this metabolism problem stabilizes soon, because it's rather annoying.

In any case, as I said above, take solace in knowing you are bettering your body on your own devices. Eat a good, balanced diet, and get plenty of rest, and mostly, do not over-do it.

I take Creatine in the pure powder form and mix it with juice everyday, I've come off it before and not used it for over a year and didn't notice any problems. Although I don't notice a lot of good it does either, the results are minimalist at best, but it's not expensive and any little bit helps.

I used creatine too in HS for football. The way our town plays its football almost makes it necessary for kids to take something to bulk up a bit in order to make coach happy and not flip out on us for not trying lol

As Deci said though, I never really noticed any other problems with it.

Did your portion amount change? Eating smaller portions can lower metabolism...

The burn could be acid reflux. That can be caused by many things.
See your doctor though. The acid will eat away at the lining of your esophagus, making you more susceptible to esophagial cancer. /joy

I prefer creatine in liquid drops under the tongue. People can argue either way, but I always liked the instant results of it. Don't stay on it for long. Allow your body time without substances.

I agree with Ish. Go with smaller portions. I stay leaner when I eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 3 larger ones.

Just to note on the acid reflux disease. It happens when the acids in your stomach pretty much come up your esophagus, immitantly burning away the lining, and eventually causing not only cancer, but other serious infections and sicknesses.

For some, acid reflux is natural. Their born with it. Others, it can occur (I believe), from either having vomiting problems, and some side-effects to ingested foods/medicines.

Supplement pills always have strings attatched. You get buff, but lose your metabolism. You gain metabolism, but you get sick easier, or whatever the cirumstances are, there is always a side-effect that is negative.

What I've been looking upon is the TI system, or the Total Immerision system. Alot of physics in it however, it explains on how to swim intensely faster. But it also goes into the fact that swimming is one of the best work outs you can possibly do, because it works every muscle in the body, and also exerts less stress on the body's ligaments and bones.

I forget the exchanges, but the book compared the equivalences between running an swimming. (I'm trying to remember this one) I believe it said that running 1 mile is the same as swimming 950 yds. Something like that. It seems far fetched, but it is comparing the work outs in a sprint. Swimming a mile is not as easy as it seems when sprinting.

I don't know why people still believe supplement pills are the only way to go. I see all these commercials now, saying that these people lost 60 lbs, or whatever. Does any sane person really believe that these people didn't work out or anything while taking the pills?

Mistra, since you were taking the supplement pills for a period of time, it gave your body a huge energy boost. But, the body never learned how to rid of the carbohydrates that you getting from your diet. Supplement pills, and energy pills, are high in carbs. Yes, they definitely give you a boost, but your diet has to stay supplementary to the supplement pills. You take 1 supplement pill a day, that means you have to take x amount of calories and carbohydrates out of your diet.

Eat grain cereals. Supposedly, they help with weight-loss and give a huge energy boost for the day due to their usual high calories/carbohydrates.

Heartburn seems to be a common side effect of this supplement, which makes sense because it is a synthetic amino acid chain, and amino acids directly stimulate stomach acid release. It doesn't have stimularnts or any hormones in it unless the producer is lying.

You may want to try drinking more fluids and stop taking the supplement of course. It's hard to tell the difference between retained water and gained fat, and supplements don't work equally in all people.

Peregrine, wouldn't this supplement pill vary though for each user effect-wise? Because I mean, let's point out people that already have amino acid problems, like Acid Reflux Disease. Would it have no effect? Or would the problem become even worse?

Could just be caused by overeating as well, but I doubt that's the case. =P

Yes, I do not overeat =P. And to everyone else, I have long-sinced stop taking the supplement, which is why I commented on my drastic metabolic rate decrease since coming off of it. It's stablizing now though, thankfully.

Now that I'm thinking about it, one big guess of mine is that the supplement was loaded with sugar, which could easily have screwed with your metabolic rate if your intake of sugar spiked (i.e. from quitting)? Dunno...

The effects already have been shown to vary widely between person to person--from adding 5 more reps to the end of a set that the person couldn't ever do before, to doing absolutely nothing in workouts while making them feel aggressive, tired, or flat-out sick.

Acid reflux is not an amino acid problem, it is a weak lower esophageal sphincter or too much acid production among other things. Amino acids do, however, universally cause an increase in stomach acid production. It is that increase which may tip some people at risk for heartburn over the edge, while most people would be fine.

So yes, a product like this may make heartburn worse, bring on a new case of heartburn, or you may be lucky enough to be protected enough from heartburn to be unaffected by it.

Also found out that I have this god damned disease. lol Wootage! It also occurs when the valves in your throat/esophagus don't close correctly, allowing the stomach acids to get through. Now I know why everytime I don't chew my food completely, I cough it up. Prilosec OTC FTW!
