Anyone here play the Supreme Commander Beta? I've been in this now since closed beta, and I'll tell you what this game kicks ass. Got a few of the old TA maps in it and with this new game, they are so fun to play again. So if any of you are in this and want to play a game my handle is Schalac.
 
Aye, except it's on crack and going 310 mph on a crotch rocket down an icy road. I love it, the best RTS I ever played and it's still in beta. Going to own everything for a long time as far as RTS is concerned.
 
The closest thing they have to that is a thing called a Sacred Bot. It is considered an experimental unit in this game and still has the laser face. It's secondary fire mode is a magnet gun that pulls anything in its way into the bot and basically is instant death even for tech 3 assult bots and tanks. I'd say check it out if you were a TA fan.

So I got it, installed it, ran it. Maxed out the graphics options and set to my desktop res. Hit apply and it crashed.

Now the mother f_cker won't start. I've removed and reinstalled it a few times, no changes. Cleared all the reg entries I could find between one reinstall, didn't help. I keep getting the same message saying something about a file in c:\games\someotherfolders, even though the game is installed to E:. There ain't no way I'm installing a game to C: either, everything is optimized for 3D apps to be launched from E:.

You ever get this? I've searched the forums but their fixes mostly point to "update your graphics driver and try these other mindless steps".
 
Well, I was playing a 3v3 match with 1000 unit cap...and I guess something got fudded in my cooling system...because I was watching a battle, with max everything on, and I kinda blew my PC up. Lost 2 GPUs and my MB due to heat from the game running at such a high setting and me just watching the battle from ground veiw. So now I have RMAs for 3 main parts of my desktop and no way to play SC unless my bro is off his PC.
 
So... max options is a bad idea I take it.

You didn't have any issues running the game the first time after cranking them all up though did you?
 
Naa, no problems on max when my system was running right. This was a 5 hour match so far though and you know how many units will be running around after so long in any RTS. Didn't check the heat because of drinking and mad clicking, then my PC shut off and I looked at the case temp. Needless to say, if you have a higher end PC you can run full max fine as long as your shit is getting the cooling it needs lol.
 
=( I wanna play. I haven't played a good new RTS in a long time. Not since Battle for Middle Earth and Dawn of War came out.
 
Busta.. Supreme Commander is the only RTS that matters now. Those "games" that you mentioned are poop and you should trade them in towards a genuine copy of Supreme Commander when it comes out in, Jan. 07 I think is the release time.

It's only in beta right now from what I found. Too restrictive in availability.
