Well, some threads on these boards can and have gotten very popular, and are eventually filled with countless pages of posts. I thought it might be interesting if some sort of team could be placed together who can look over the more popular threads, and write a brief synopsis on what the thread is about, how it has grown or derailed and what not.

For example on the flameboards:

Could write a description saying who made the flame and why, what the flame was, and then write about what the defense was and what not. Would be preferable if it were unbiased but not sure if its entirely possible. Or could also write who the majority of the community is siding with or something like that.

Would be interesting to read this instead of going through pages and pages, and be quickly caught up and possibly make a contributing post to the thread.

Thoughts?

I know its hard to go through 20+ pages sometimes, but I really don't think this is a good idea. There are people who will read just the synopsis (which will obviously have some missing pieces), make a post, and then wonder why people are telling them they don't know what they're talking about.

I'm pretty sure the mod staff has a lot on their plate and don't see any real reason for this personally. To me, its just kind of a tool for lazy people.

I agree with that. In my opinion, if you're not going to read the entire thread, don't say anything.

I agree with this. There's a reason why the Cliff's Notes version of books only takes you so far... If you can take the time to type up a response, you can take the time to read what's already been said. Any response that is worth reading will come from being informed and knowledgeable of the subject being discussed, and part of that is being aware of what's been said, who has been saying it, and where they stand. If you don't know those things (and you couldn't if you didn't bother to read), then you shouldn't be responding.

Fair enough, its just kinda annoying to have to go through a few posts of crap, you know like "lulz" and picture posts but i think some work has been aimed at getting rid of those. Anyway, just a thought, maybe its not the best idea.
