This is a problem I've had for a long time in the game, and it's really starting to piss me off. Today I went farming for beehive chips in North Gustaberg with my NIN, so I'll get drops a little more frequent than with my WAR. Well, I see a THF that's at least level 35, probably higher farming bees too. They're killing the bees in one hit. Pissed me off a little, but wasn't a big deal. There's lots of bees on the hill. Well, there came to one point where the THF came up to where I was. I was engaged with a bee, but I hadn't claimed the target yet. Next thing I know, I hear a boomerang and then the bee is dead. Happens to another bee, and finally I get pissed off enough to voke one of the bees just so I can actually kill one. Now, I'm not going to say he was stealing them from me, but it really pisses me off when people see you engaged with an enemy, and they take it upon themselves to attack it first. I don't do this to other people, because it's what's known as "common courtesy". Only time I don't get mad about it is when I'm hunting an NM, because I know I'd do the same, and it's an NM. But with a regular fiend, it pisses me off a lot.

That's totally an asshole thing to do on the theifs part. I suppose you can't do much to prevent it though. It floors me at the complete lack of courtesy people exhibit in this game. Even if I'm farming and another high level character is farming in the same area...if they stop within a certain radius of say a crawler I'll wait and see what they do before I hit it with dia.

I would of said something If I were you...kind of a "What the Fuck guy?" kinda statement. I hope things go better for you though.

Be aware of the way latency makes things 'look' to other players.

Im aware of this more than a few other because my wife and I play on sepearate machines in the same room. I could have my weapon out, ready to strike, and on her motior, im just begining to walk up to the mob.

Im not saying the guy didnt see you ready to attack, but just be aware that he may not have seen it that way.

Um.... How is that supposed to affect drop percentages? You might have had a better luck streak with NIN over WAR, and you might taking it as a good luck charm, but you might want to level THF up to at least L15 for Treasure Hunter. Then your WAR will get far better drop rates than your NIN, and you'd be able to farm at much better spots.

As for the behavior, if you're not exping off them, then you're simply farming competition, just like when NM hunting.

I'm not sure if this has actually been found out if it's true or not, but higher levels get less drops from lower level fiends. So the higher you are, the less drops you get. I'm still not sure if this is a fact or not, but it appears as if it is.

Sometimes I like to do a /angry or /sigh just to let them know that they're making me mad, although I doubt that they're listening.

I am aware of this too, but just by the way he was acting, he knew that I was trying to attack at least one of the bees. Kind of like when NM hunting, when someone casts a quick dia or stun before you can get it. I'd run up to a be, and immediately I'd hear his boomerang as if it was an act of desperation for a beehive chip.

I used to think that too, but I started a new character on a new server (due to some friends creating their characters there because they have more friends there than just me here), and I'm getting crap drops. Leveled WAR to 10 and MNK to 9, and I still don't have a full stack of Silk Threads! (And oh gawd I killed every Crawler that I came across too!) Anyways, by opposition, I'm still having a good amount of drops in non-lowbie zones (any other than Ronfaure, Sarutabaruta or Gustaberg.) Killing them fast greatly offsets any lower-drop code that might exist in my case.

But in any case, I'm sure your WAR52 can take on much better mobs than your NIN21, for far more frequent and pricier drops. And with a THF15 subbed, I'm sure you'd like it even more. Again, I only noticed a greater difference with Treasure Hunter when hunting further from the base cities.

Yeah, that is untrue, my friend when he leveled WHM killed nothing but crawlers and yagudo, and he only got like 5 silk threads, and then my other friend as his lvl30 dragoon went with him to farm crawlers, every kill was at least a silk thread(didn't even have THF subbed)so level doesn't matter

Now that I think about it, I do seem to get a streak of silk threads when killing crawlers on my way to Giddeus. Just throw of a boomerang and I get a thread every couple kills, sometimes even more often. Anyway, I've started leveling THF just for farming. I'm going to take it to at least 15 for TH, but I might actually take it to match half my main level too.

The only thing is, it takes forever to throw a boomerang at something...they were almost certainly engaged before you ran up to it....maybe they thought you stole their bee too...

3 words: Valkrum, Qufim, Yuhtunga.

...Unless you really value getting Flee at L25...

It's not everyone, nor everytime. But the law of averages are against good players.

It pisses me off more when I'm mining a point and someone runs up behind me and starts to leech off of it. I found the fucking thing. It's mine.
Uh, whoops a little rant.
Yeah.

What he said Wonko.

Maybe what he said. It's happened to me when I've been at a point for quite a while, too. And generally, if I see someone in field/workers gear standing in front of a mining point, I'm going to assume they are mining it and in between axes or something. So it's really not the same thing.

I highly doubt this makes the Jungle any better. I was in a terriffic party and the party besides ended up killing me. They over-crowded the tunnel we had been playing in for at least 2 hours and their goblin did bomb toss killing me in one hit.

I hate the jungle...even if you manage to get an incredible party one of the other morons in another party have a very good chance of killing you.

"I was in a terriffic party and the party besides ended up killing me"

I mean..."I was in a terriffic party and the party beside us ended up killing me"

My god am I tired...
