Well I came back from work yesterday all stressed out with the crap happening at work. Got my tired ass to my confortable chair, and power on my PC while I was thinking what to make for dinner. Well it didn't quite turned on so I pressed again. Seemed it run, but soon turned off. Was asking "Wtf... don't tell me the Power supply has blown again!? Bought this crap 1 month ago!?"

Obviously since I have 2 PCs, one for work one for Gaming both had different motherboards so there were no telling if the power supply was dead unless I went to buy one. Well so I went out, 30min remaining till shops closes. I drove like mad and reached to the closest shop with 5min remaining. (yay lucky!) Bought the power supply, and at the same time a bit of memory (RAM) for my old pc (P450 with 256MB ram needed more for bigger programs to open such as power point opening 60 meg file). Went back home but had a tough luck of being stuck in the main street so took me about 1hour to get back home -_-;

Now here I am at home. Removed the power supply, and swapped with the one I bought. And turned on... NOTHING... NADA... ZIP it stayed there. "HOLY SHIT! DON'T TELL ME ITS THE MOTHER BOARD WHICH HAS BLOWN!!!". Apparently, there are 3 possibilities that the PC doesn't respond when tryed to turn the switch on. The Box (for the switch) which I tested with another but zip, the powersupply which I bought a new one but zip, so one thing remains... "THE MOTHER BOARD". /sigh new mother board= new cpu (since my P4 2G is an old model), new ram (since mine is still using DIMMs and the new one has DDR). Crap -_-""

So I was tired, wanted to finish my work (11PM when I was trying to do this) and the 2nd comp happend the same as the 1st PC. W... T... F... Was about the start screaming, but I took a coffee and tryed looking at what has blown up this time. "Fortunately" it was the power supply (the old one has some incredible amount of dust and seems to have stopped working because of that). So appart from what stress I had at work, I had to deal with 1 dead comp and 1 choking PC (powersupply). Went to bed with frustration /sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Now I have to buy those stuffs today... Talk about having to spend cash on unexpected stuff...

Leeegh... Reminds me of what happened to me a few weeks ago.

Motherboard fried on me when it ate my 3rd power supply, which I had replaced only a month-and-a-half prior. The third in 6 months. I'm just hoping my new MB won't have such an appitite. Still need to get a better processor (Somehow my current 1.4ghz is still compatable), I couldn't talk Dad into the upgrade, even though he can see the little yellow FRAPS numbers in the corner of FFXI not getting above 20 in a normal area, and hear Winamp choking in the background. >.<

But enough of my ranting over computer problems, good luck with yours.

I assume we are talking about a clone system and not a name brand system. Make sure you have the voltage set right on the Power Supply. The manufactures like to default them to 230. You can still get system boards that support older processors and SDRAM memory, if you are looking to just fix the problem or unless you just want to upgrade.

i'm sorry but Shias post made NO SENSE to me lol /blush
I know nothing about somputers and motherborads and stuff.
What is a power Supply? HOw can you blow it? Isnt it connected to the wall jack?
IF I play too much will my motherboard blow up too?

The power supply is responsible for taking the AC current from the house, converting it to DC and then regulating it into the voltages the computer needs to run (i.e. 5 VDC,
12 VDC, etc).

Motherboards (also called System Boards) are the main board in the system and everything else connects too.

As electricity passes though each of the components and pathways it generates heat, which causes expanding and contracting which over times leads to failure. Other parts generate a lot of heat, and if the method of cooling fails, it will leads to failure. Also the current in your house is not stable and has little minor ups and downs. This also cases ware on the system. Just like with a car, it is not a question of if something will break, must simple a matter of when.

I built my own PC with name brand items. I custom select every piece to my taste regardless of price cause i dun want failures 1/2 way when doing something. My pc specs are as follows (dun laugh  ).

PentiumIII 1Ghz slot1 (100mhz) x2
Asus P3C-D Dual Slot1 with rdram and agp4x support
512 Kingston pc800 rdram (2x256)
450Watts power supply
Ati radeon vivo 7200 64mb ddr
Usr 56k external message modem
Lucent 56k internal Modem
Sony DVD-ROM
Pioneer DVD-R A05
Win2k SP4 installed

I won't bother about the rest of the other crap stuffs like scsi card and diskette drive. lmao. AND this PC had been powered on since Jan5 when i started FFXI and never been turned off once except power failures. Now that's stability :)
