Take any compitent group of people and nin + brd is far better than any of the other setups, its a damn fact, ive seen it many, many times, accept it. PLD + RDM can be good too dont get me wrong, but come on...

And my nin out dmgs all but the best WARs and MNKs...so questioning nin DD is pretty dumb.

questioning PLD DD is pretty dumb too, you've seen my work in sky XD

I'm staticing my RDM with Dresdan's NIN. I think that's the best thing for a NIN. Then again, I think the best thing is RDM+NIN+BRD :P

ppfffft, me > you

And yea, nin + brd + rdm is the best, whm tends to not have anything to do with a nin, and a smn + brd is bad because no haste, and hastega is next to worthless.

BRD+RDM> BRD or RDM+WHM just so you don't feel bad.

BRD and RDM are entirely situational. BRD enhances the PT. RDM de-hances the mob. if both are competent, then the impact on the PT is equal. As a rdm, i prefer to work with plds, just because i know that the whm will likely only be needing to heal the pld. with a ninja, i'm not sure, because in my experience there are less good nin tanks as there are good pld tanks.

BRD + RDM is one of those combos that is just sick... lol, i love those PT's.

as for the 'just so you don't feel bad' i think there is a lot of harsh words here bordering on flaming... but that is bound to happend when your discussing what jobs are best. all jobs are equal, if played by a competent player. there are no bad jobs. just bad players.

anyways, i went with rdm/pld because that's my personal preferance. i'll work with any setup tho, so long as i have fun while exp'ing. i've been playing too long to care about getting teh ub3r exp, i need to be entertained... working on my 139th level of rdm.... I NEEDS DA ENTERTAINMENT! lolz

Just messing with little torque, he's a bud of mine.

BTW BRDs get slow and dispel, with a WHM who can Para Dia 2, and cast slow since BRD slow and the spell slow stack, then you have a retarded mob attacking your tank. Add that to the fact you get the enhancing songs

BRD>RDM learn it, memorize it, move on.

I think its harder to play a good NIN then a good PLD, but then again...I am only lvl 3 PLD. So I could be wrong.

I when with NIN+BRD, even without a RDM debuff its no problem. Carnage Elegy is sick, there is no equal. NIN can debuff too we do have an A- in Ninjutsu. Also its been said that Hojo: Ni > Slow from a RDM on xp mobs. I also like to add that Melody Earring is freaking godly, Evasion Skill + 5 when you have a song on you.

In my experience the best combo for pt is PLD + RDM, but the RDM needs to keep on top of refreshing & the WHM needs to keep ontop of curing status ailments unless the PLD is rich enough to afford medicines. I understand RDM is a very busy job... I started game as a RDM & quit when I found how they were being used as refresh tools for the pt. I give RDM a lot of credit for what they do & greatly appreciate it, all I'm saying is they w/PLD make best combo imo as long as they are a good RDM that keeps ontop of refreshing the pt.
you get surprisingly used to it playing RDM... at 57, as long as im paying attention, i can constantly keep everyone refreshed, the mob enfeebled, the tank regen'ed (if theres no WHM), and get the occasional nuke in. heheheh... perhaps im just a freak?
personally, i like the PLD and RDM combo because i really dont like ninjas... why do they get tier II enfeebles and not the masterful red mages?
edits: wow, i really stink at english today...

A NIN, RDM, and BRD combo as has been said before is probably the fastest XP gaining party short of cannons and manaburns. I had a party the other day NIN, MNK, WAR, BLM, RDM, BRD and we were taking mobs down left and right. I ended up having to pull as BRD because we were running out of mobs to kill because another party moved in, and I just ran around sleeping everything and mobs slowly trickled in. So much fun. :D ^^

on my blm i'll take a pld and bard and on my monk i'll take a nin and bard. Rdms were ruined for me when i was told "If you want refresh you should get a bard" *rdm uses warp scroll*

I have nothing against pld or pld+rdm combo. I partied with Isotope recently on my thief with her pld, she was pretty good.

But, my love lies with nin+brd combo.

-Ninja covers the most importent enfeebles lost by not having a rdm: tier II slow, blind, para

-Carnage elegy and ninja are a terrific combination

-@ 65 on ninja I hit for 30-50ish(just slightly over) with sole sushi. I typically do 40-50 when berserk is up. Not only that, I'm the fastest attacker in my static of nin, mnk, sam, sam, rdm, brd. So my damage adds up quite fast.

-I have no issues getting off blade: jin once a fight at all, very easy. It'll do 300-400s mostly with berserk up, and that's without any DD gear viturally.

I give my snipers, amemet+1, and walkure mask to one of my friends(the samurai), so those 300-400s are without that good stuff. That's also without str rings,Okote, and haub. So as you can see,I'm getting 300+ jins effortlessly. I'm sure I could get 300-600s np with a DD macro for WSs. Scorpion harness which I use isn't actually as useful for jin as haub would be. I'm working on my haub now though.

-Hojo ni and carnage stack

-Brd is valuable to the melee DDs, not just the mages and tank.

-Hate on ninja post 65 is no longer an issue like it was before, since we're DDs that don't get hit post 65. Ninja and hate problems is only an issue for crazy blms and mnks with cross counters at early/mid levels. This is assuming the ninja is good and spamming all his/her ninja tools where they're the most useful @ midlevels. And for what trouble crazy blms and loaded mnks can give ninja @ midlevels, thief can fix it all anyway. Quality thieves are GREAT additions to xp parties at midlevels.

Now this isn't to say I disrespect paladin; I wouldn't mind leveling pld either. Someone in my CoP static is a galka pld and he's tanked the best of the NMs out there CoP has to provide, battles such as snoll, omega/ultima, promy vaz, etc.

I think plds/rdm/brd teams are great for specialization and many endgame things. When it comes to xp though, nin+brd is my favorite only after nin+brd+rdm, and most of my experience lies within xp. This game would be extermely hard in some aspects without beloved plds.

Simply put as far as xp parties go:

-Pld occupies a tanking slot for parties. Bards can work with plds fine, but it can be a pain at times with a SATA'er.

-Nin occupies a tanking/DD/enfeeble slot for parties. There are no problems to overcome when putting nin and brd together. Ninjas typically love attack/march/acc songs(depending on the level/situation/activity)

I'd rather have nin+rdm, since I play as rdm and I wouldn't have to worry about refreshing a pld :P I find nin tanks better too usually.
chros when u hit 65 rdm u got to lv with me again show u why nin tanks suck XD
trintie could SATA for almpst 2k on a mnk and lee lee mb for 1k and i did not lose hate dont even looked awya for 1 sec and this was when mob on 75% of its HP

It's always taru blms saying they hate ninja tanks, I wonder why? I think we all know the answer to that one.

so what if i over nuke  at least a pally can save my tiny ass...what's a nin gonna do? cast more shadows?

I think this discussion is seriously about to derail.

At any rate, a PLD tank is, for me, better in some situations than a NIN tank, and vice versa. There are some things that a PLD just can't handle AS WELL AS a NIN. Note the as well as, because I don't want to hear any retarded arguments about it later. My examples are: The Boyahda Tree, Valley of Sorrows, and Kuftal Tunnel. In The Boyahda Tree on Processionaires, I found that a NIN tank worked out best, mostly considering the type of mob(crawlers). In Kuftal Tunnel against crabs, sind similarly Cape Terrigan against similar mobs, I found a PLD tank to be better, simply because they could hold hate better through their cures since the mob wouldn't attack as fast and didn't interrupt spells.

Now, in Valley of Sorrows, I found that no tank really fit in quite well, as the raptors and greater birds pretty much stepped in and ripped all my tanks a new one, usually leaving me (MNK) to finish the tanking job.

As for refreshers, I usually prefer a BRD, but since they are very hard to get I take the next best thing, a RDM. I say BRD is better for me because a BRD has all those lovely songs for me to be better than I already know I am. ( :D )

((Bear in mind this is all a matter of my opinion. Please don't post something hoping to change my mind, because in all honesty, it's probably not going to matter.))

I have to say it was a hard choice for me to pick. When I'm on my whm, I prefer pld & rdm. When I'm on my warrior I prefer nin, brd & smn. Since I'm leveling war now, I ended up goin' with nin & brd.

I hated the perytons in valley of sorrows @ 60, they were VERY EVIL at 60. Raptors were cake though.

lol, you need to get to 60,61 and then 65 were ninja make huge leaps and strides in their ability to hold hate. Those are the levels of jin, new affordable katanas high in dmg compared to earlier mid lvl models by far, and dual wield IV.

The late 50s(were you are now in your sig) are preheps the hardest time for ninjas to hold hate post ni in comparsion to other levels. Ninja ni elementals start to become outdated toward 60 since they get no stronger than from level 40, their melee damage doesn't develope more until 60/61/65/etc, and they're out fighting mobs that don't take full melee damage(crabs/pugs).

I can't blame you for not liking ninjas so much at your current level when good DDs and blms(hopefully like yourself) are present. Thfs are Ninjas' good friends then.

In the 40-50s...Ninja can still do ok, but they need to spam everything. The only thing I couldn't hold hate from in the 50s on ninja was my static monk with cross counters. And I did hold hate from him until he'd raging fist at the end. I lacked a good WS of my own at the time to cancel raging fists out.

But I could handle keeping hate from excellent blms no problem. My static use to just be nin, mnk, sam, brd. We had two blm pickups at two points in the 50s that were very good, Majisreturn(taru) and sano(hume). That had all their staves, very very good equips elsewhere, basiclly optimal except for not having all HQ staves. They didn't steal hate as long as they gave me a little time to set up some base hate at the start. So they would rest after fights into early into the next fight, and nuke between and they nuked fairly hard. They played smart, I played hard spamming all my tools like a good ninja should 40-60, hate didn't bounce to the blms at all.

Blms really aren't the hardest job to hold hate from as long as they give any tank a little time to build hate at the start. So as long as blms rest/enfeeble the start of fights 40-60, they're definitely managable with nin tanks without thfs, assuming the ninja tank is willing to spend the gil. It's well equipped 'monks' that are really tough to hold hate from, even with complete spamming of all ninja tools. But monks, especially monks that are more likely to steal hate(monks with cross counters) will be fine anyway. With counter+7-10 and counterstance....They're just insane at midlevels for handling a beating.

Point being blms aren't that hard for good ninjas to hold hate from unless the blm chain nuke their most powerful stuff start to finish. You are right though, getting a bad ninja really really sucks and it then becomes a hopeless situation.

And for the record! Casting utsusemi Ni is actually a noticable help in holding hate. Utsusemi ni has a very noticable amount of hate attached to it. It has a little more hate than boost I'd estimate from the feel of it. I've played war/mnk to 37 on my galka mule so I like to think I have a good feel of hate and what equals what.

I really don't understand BLMs complaint on NINs. Pretty much all but one BLM I partied with from 1-75 NIN was a coward and never nuked nearly enough. The only time I would ever lose hate, was when I had a thf or /thf and we were turning the mob. And even then, most retarded BLMs wouldnt realize I was TRYING to lose hate, and would nuke right before a SC, oblivious to all the PT macros that SC was starting and would fuck up SATA. I guess I havent exped with shity nins, since I mainly exped with plds on my sam way back when nin was rare, with strid being really the only one i pted with and he owned. On nin, keeping hate really shouldnt be hard...debuff, casting utsu, decent melee dmg, and for the love of god nins, use an equip macro right before voke to load up on the enmity. Sure it takes a little more work, but jesus thats why nin is fun, because it actually takes some skill.

I'm tired of hearing BLMs gloat about stealing hate like they don't enjoy doing it, be smart and you wont pull hate and will still do great dmg.

i never seen a nin hold h8 from a SC of 2k and a MB of 1k never so rarely lv with nins
