by target, i mean fishing up just certain kind without interferance of other fish. been to all the other sites ie: KIDAS, but was hoping someone had their own to share or a referance they go by that has worked.

I'm not sure that's something you can really do. You're always going to have other fish hitting your line. At best, you can learn which is which by their stamina and release the ones you don't want instead of reeling them in.

Some fish you can not single out no matter how hard you try.

Here's the method I use though:

First I open up kidas and a notepad file

Write the fishes' name down at top followed by list of all baits that hook him.

Then I do the same for every other fish in that zone beneath it.

Then I cross reference and erase every bait from the list that hooks multiple others. IE meatballs and minnows have a tendency to hook everything.

Doing this I can generally single out a bait that works best.

Kida isn't always reliable. Trial and error are your best bet. Just depends on the fish you want to catch really.

This too. There are definitly a number of problems I've found.

Best guide I can giver you:

Bottom dwellers: Sinking minnow

Surface fish: Minnow

Moats/ponds: Insect paste

Big guys: Meatballs

Items: Rogue rig

Rivers: Fly lure

What about Black sole? Checked on Wiki and a few experienced people as refrence and I've gotten Qufim island at the pond with sinking minnow or port jeuno with sinking minnow. Although in port, I get a lot of Jelly fish. Of course there's sliced cod as well, but not really sure how well that works out just yet.

Black sole if you're fishing just for skill/sole sushi just go catch dil. Can get them in Talaca Cove and they bite better and are easier to single out.

If you want to catch black soles to sell, port jeuno with a sinking minnow does the trick.

Alright then, didn't know about that Dil. Currently my skill is about to be 53 but for you more experienced fishers, what level can you catch black sole or Dil with ease? I tried at 49 in the pond at qufim island and it was a bitch. I caught 5 in 20 minutes but I did get .4 skill up surprisingly. I went back at 52 and barely noticed a difference. My plan is to just go to 60 and try then.

I'm a cook, trying to catch sole or Dil now to constantly cook Sole Sushi.

Do you have lu shangs yet?

If so, fuck dils/soles. Trumpet shells in Vunkerl are your best friend. They sell within half an hour of going up for 20K/ stack and catch like a charm. Just grab a rogue rig from the guild and head to any of the bridges in vunkerl.

Even though I'm in the 70s I spend most of my time fishing there instead. Screw skilling, I'll do that once I have enough GP for serpent rumours lol

I do have a Lu Shang, broke my bank but I worked my ass off for it. That's neat about the Trumpet shells but I'm not in it for the money at the moment, I'm just curious about how easy it can be to catch black sole and at around what level I should start attempting. Asked a good friend and he's at 61ish and said it was easy, so right now my goal is there.
