O.O I always knew the Tea Party had corporate powers behind it, but I thought it was from genuine people and got derailed by corporate influences later, not created by these corporate power houses before it was even around.

Think the media itself (other than the Daily Show, I imagine they will eventually) will talk about this? Doubtful.

Watching the HBO series The Newsroom? This cat was out of the bag a long time ago, just no one reported much on it. Why didn't they? Watch more of The Newsroom to find out.

I didn't have HBO in my house until only the last month and I actually haven't turned on my TV to watch it (just to play games) in even longer than that :p

Functionally all "grass roots" movements are cultivated by someone.

It doesn't make the Tea Party any less of a real political entity that there were corporate entities supporting the libertarian agenda.

The idea is to discredit how they advertised their party to the people. If you'll remember, when they first came about, their big advertisement focus was that their funding was from "me" and "people like me, who earn are middle class, that spend $5 here and there (on them) to make a difference!" and they were not owned by the "evil, society eating corporate machine." It was "my" party, not corporate America's. Really, that has always been a big part of their message.
