So yeah, I'm a faithful PS2 user and that's where I play my Final Fantasy from. But there's a problem... my boyfriend dropped it while he was helping me move to my dorm. It still turns on, but after 20 to 30 seconds of running, it shuts itself off. Is there anything I can do to fix it quickly? Or is this a case for the people at Sony? :(

Sounds like you broke the fan or heatsink off the processor because shutdown after 20-30 sec of running signals a fatal overheating problem. Stop turning it on to prevent further damage and take it to a repair shop.

Do what i did, send your PS2 in and as long as the warrenty sticker is still on they'll fix it for free, only thing you have to pay is shipping and in about a week your PS2 will be as good as new.

A week? I've had to send in 4 PS2s b/c of the laser lens defects...I never got mine back any sooner than 3 months. It's the sole reason why I refuse to buy another Sony product ever again.

Wow, that's sad, I always thought game systems were supposed to last, I'm a sony hater, well kinda, and a Nintendo fanboy, and I can tell you, Nintendo systems can fall down from very high height and not break, even on EGM magazine they did a test were they would flush, yes, flush a GBA on a toilet, let it dry and still worked like new.

Like the post above, most likely is your system's fan, and yeah, they can repari it for free if your warranty is still up.

Flush one down the toilet? EGADS!

Ina, I'll bet Eric is gonna have hell to pay...

I remember one story from someone that last their GBA or color in the early winter in alaska where they lived.

So spring comes and they find the gameboy in a bucket of oil or something...somehow it worked, minus a ton of black crap all over it.

I bet it will still work, I had my NES fall down the closet, my SNES fall down like 5 feet from the TV furninture and they still working. Nintendo has good fame on those hard to break systems, I have a PSOne and it looks extremely fragile, it's odd, PS2 consoles seem pretty solid, oh well.

GBA is hella tough. Mines been dinged/banged/dropped more times than I should admit to, but it still works like a pro.
A friend of mine even accidentally dropped his one rainy day, as he was getting out of his car, into a little puddle of water. He went into some place and noticed it when he got back to his car that it was right next to it and submerged..

Sure enough, he took it home dried it off, outside and inside (with blow dryer) and turned it on to check... it came on like normal and he never had any problems with it. Nintendo = Built to Last.

point a huge fan at your ps2. Thats actually a really bad way to do it but it should keep it cool. Best way to fix it is take is somewhere that will do it for you.
