so I'm customizing a PC for christmas, from iBUYpower.com

this is the machine set I'm going to get:

http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=224

most of the stuff I'm set on already, but a few things I don't really understand and though I'm well versed in comp tech I don't trust my own opinion.

first, I'm obviously getting a quad core processor and SLI etc, will I need a non generic power supply (Standard Case Power Supply is default, there are ones on the list that are labeled as "Quad / SLI Ready" etc) or will I have to get one specified for quad core?

second, my current video card sucks, but I know nothing about current technology or the best stuff out or anything like that. my current VCard is a RADEON Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series, which is obviously old and crappy.

what I was going to get originally is GeForce 8600GT w/ 512MB cache

is this shit, or good, or what? I really don't want to get the really expensive stuff, I can't go over 1,200$ total or so and I'm right on $950-1100 as it is, so I can't get that much better, especially if I have to get another power supply.

any info is appreciated

I have no links for you, but I'm pretty sure if you're planning on doing dual video cards(SLI) that you may want more than a 420 watt power supply. 2 gigs of ram looks good(especially if you're going to be running windows vista), you might want to take advantage of the 250 gig hard drive for $13 more. Other than that maybe try pricing the parts on newegg.com or a similar web site see if you could save even more by building it yourself.
