Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

Well they postponed Judgment Day. So the events in T2 is what altered the future. I think what it changed the most was Skynet itself. From how they talked in the old ones Skynet was just some massive super computer. In T3 however, Skynet was like an AI program/virsus that corrupted all the electronics in the world.

Naw it was still a massive super computer/AI thing. It just used viruses to corrupt everything else :P

Not sure what else they changed but clearly something, otherwise we wouldn't have this new trilogy. We'll have to wait a see in the next 10 yrs =P

They are suppose to do 2 more after this one correct?

Ya supposed to be a new trilogy like the star wars things

I still say that the events of the first trilogy in no way changed the future. If Kyle had not gone back in time, where the fuck did John come from? I think the quote is just a comment to how he always figured that he was prepared for everything and was sorely mistaken. I think he was given the impression that he'd be the messiah and his survival would save mankind by merely being alive to lead.

Thats the first movie. But the second movie clearly changed it. They delayed judgement day. The computer itself was a bit different than what it was originally. It had unforeseen consequences I'm sure.

There may be many possible future outcomes just based on what any one person does, nothing is set in stone once you add time travel to the mix. Also I cant imagine seeing a Terminator film without Arnie in it, to me he always will be the definitive machine. :)

I get the feeling they won't give Terminators a face in the future. They'll probably just be machines.

Probably. I think the only reason they put faces and skin and etc on the other ones is because they were sending them to the past, so they had to blend in.

I *suspect* they did it because nothing inorganic survived the transition so they covered the endoskeleton in organic matter.

They also used it for infiltration purposes. (Present and future)

um... have you seen the 1st one ... at all?

the first movie did show glimpse of the future where the machines did have faces i.e infiltrating the enemy bases >.>;;

I watched the first film again a couple of days ago when it was on TV, and they did say the 'infiltration units' were made to look human, not specifically for time travel. Reese says something along the lines of 'we had no trouble spotting the old models, made with rubber skin, but these new Terminators are living breathing bleeding machines'.

Also there's the fact that they showed a scene in the future where one of the terminators got into the rebel base and started wrecking up the place, it's when Reese's picture of Sarah Conner gets burned up, and that one was clearly human-looking.

Like it was said earlier. Only Organic things could travel back in time. Thats the reason why they don't have any clothes on when they first get back and why they didn't bring any futuristic weapons back w/ them also.

The organic skin covers it. Allowing it to travel through time.

Its the loophole of time traveling pretty much...

Indeed - if you remember every "flashforward" to the future during the Wars of the Machines showed straight Terminator endoskeletons fighting, no Arnie-lookalikes or human-looking flesh-covered machines.

They had to cover him in flesh so he could withstand the stress of time travel too, so I understood it.
