After a year and a half of FFXI, I can't believe I've never tried the Tetra Master on POL. Today, I finally snagged an ID for it, and I'm glad I did, it's quite enjoyable in many ways.

There are plenty of NPC's to play against when you're trying to build up funds for more cards, and they're also a good source of free cards, should you be able to win and capture the cards you want until the end of the match, netting a perfect win against your opponent lets you take all the cards they brought into the match instead of just picking one card that you had captured at the end, also your prize money gets a bonus to it, I think it was about 3x the wager at the beginning.

Steiner (FFIX) has to be one of my favorite ones to play against so far, he's tough at times, and he seems to have a buttload of powerful Beatrix cards (several of which I snagged and beat him with XD ) and some crazy weapon cards that I'm still trying to figure out.

Having only played this for one whole day now, I'm sure I've got a lot to learn yet, like how the defence values on the cards work against the attack values and I guess there are card type bonuses too that allow you to do more damage against certain types.

Either way, this has got to be the best dollar I've spent in awhile, much more fun than some mule I never use ^^

If anyone else here plays, or decides to pick up on this, I'd love to play a few friendly matches with some fellow QCDN'ers, maybe even get a good group from here into events or something like that.

Thankfully, it only requires your TM # from your original FFXI package, and you get your free month for the first month too, I bought FFXI near fall of '04 and it seems the CD keys don't expire if unused.Like I said before, it's just like buying an ID for a mule, except it's only used on TM, and it seems that you can only have one account on TM, the windower does not work with it (it just spazzes out and kicks you out of POL), you can't alt+tab out since that windows function doesn't work in game for some reason anyway.

This game can be really addictive, it's a real challenge to build a strong deck and then only select 5 cards per match, and the 3-way matches are even more challenging than the one on one matches since you have two people to contend with.

I'm liking the option of having a card shop to buy/sell in, you can only buy "booster packs" in there, but you can sell any single cards for a portion of their face value. There is an auction option if you like to know what you're buying up front, it's not like the AH in FFXI, it's more EBay style as there is a time limit to place your bids on the item, and you could be outbid at the last second if someone were actually trying to do so (honestly, there are only about 51,000+ users last I checked, so you're not likely to be outbid very often on the cards under 5000T ("T" is the currency in game, I have no idea what it is yet ^^; ).

Good grief, I'm really chatty lately ^^;

I was quite pumped to hear about Tetra being put into action for FFXI, afterall I was a big fan of it in FF8. But what annoys the hell outta me to no extent is the fact that I have to log out of FF to play it. Certainly it would be ideal to bust out your deck and play a few games of cahds (not from boston but like to use their accent occasionally) while lfg. Or say you're out in the fields and a party member leaves, why just sit around for 20 minutes waiting for a replacement when again, you could break out your decks and go at it. I still play Tetra, usually during a maitenance, and it is a hoot, but personally, by making it a seperate game, i do believe SE dropped the ball (again).

Exactly why I noted that the windower doesn't work with it, I was hoping you could play TM during downtime, but it sadly doesn't work that way ; ;

I've gotta agree with you on the ball being dropped, but I'm glad that they still support this game when there's rarely anyone on at all during the times I've been playing, the highest number of players I've noticed in the past two days would be around 50 at the same time
