"thanks"

There's a "thanks" button you click on people's posts, you click it if you find what they said useful...that's about it. =P

Also, ito my knowledge it doesn't do anything useful, it's just a fun little add-on thing. Kindof like how people rate topics.

Looks like some kinda Karma tracker...

It keeps track of it in your info and i guess its a way other than post count to realize who to listen to.

works like that

God forbid he might've overlooked it, right?

GOOD PoST RATE UP++++

Right next to the flameboard.

You might be able to view them through the User CP, it'll show you your previous posts, at any rate.

It would be really nice to have a thumbs down button.

I actually like this feature. In the future, when a new guy comes to QCDN and wants some info about something...and ohhh lets say Blazn or Shaunessy posts something, the new guy can see that they have 0 thanks ever, and therefore should have their posts disregarded, where as there are a large portion of members that submit useful info regularly...

I like it, no matter how much some will mock it...

I don't know. That use may be against Sculli's original intentions of keeping this board from turning into popularity contests and witchhunts. It appears that the thanks button can, however, cut down on spam and "QFT" syndrome. If someone says something well, bam. Thanks. Dunno if I'd use it to actually say thanks, since that would usually merit a real post, but hey. We'll see how it goes.

I gotta agree with Pere...wether it's agreeing or finding the post useful seems to be the intention (at least to me), and using it for something like "don't take them seriously if they lack thank-yous" just seems sortof silly...

I mean, some people frequent certain subforums more than others (many don't goto the public forums at all), so of course they may give less feedback/arguement on subjects and wind up with less thank-yous. =/

If anything I see the thank-you thing as a way to look up pieces of info people have stated that others found useful. You could possibly use it to "bookmark" bits of info that you can use in the future for things (i.e. a BCNM strategy)
