I like it when people tell me I am doing a good job, but on the flipside if I were doing a bad job I would hope someone would tell me that as well. I know I want to be the best at what I am doing, and that can only be accomplished be feedback.

I think that's really the best way to do, seeing as there's a lot of downtime finding a new member and getting them to the camp if you just kick the member who's having the problem when you do have the chance of fixing the problem. Of course, I wish I could make the threat of either kicking a member or disbanding, but even as a BLM (a higher desired job, as I understand it) I often seek party for hours. And when I do get a party, more often than not it's going to be full of people I know, since the higher I get the fewer people there seems to be to party with. Heh, I even know some DRGs, DRKs, etc that can go days without a party.

And as far as having a problem with the party not talking... eh, whatever. Aside from the necessary stuff like SC, mob choice, etc, I have friends in and out of LS that I can annoy if I feel like talking, and I certainly don't feel less about a member that doesn't talk much. Especially in JP or EU PT, I don't expect conversation about the World Series, PSP, or whatever. I judge a player by skill, not by vocabulary.

Xp is NOT just Xp. I would MUCH RATHER sit in Jeuno than be getting 1k xp/hr. Many players are getting past some lvs by getting just 1k/hr. Because they take whatever xp it is they can get, they don't know HOW to ct PROPERLY in certain situations or just on the job.

If a RDM can get 1k/hr XP by NOT casting Refresh properly, why should he suddenly learn now? Nobody complained or kicked him because' XP is XP'

Same goes for all jobs.

I will say about eating food: Do't use the 1hr food at the start >< Too many times will that be wasted. Use a 30min pie first, then judge if the pt is going to stay for another hour. If so, down that 1hour pie, if not, use a 30min pie or leave(depending).

Sorry, but I'm an optimist. Take into account the following scenario:

Pickup party A sends me an invite. I accept, and see various flaws in the group (Underleveled/poor subjobs, people without the necessary gate crystals for teles, possibly someone on my 'poor player' list.) I stay in this party for an hour, and end up +1500 XP. I now have two choices:

a) Stay in party A, say 'XP is XP',' and gain less than half a level in three hours.

b) Disband from party A, put my flag back up, and get invited to another, better-run party that heads to a less crowded XP area. This pt takes about an hour to form, but in that first hour fighting, we gain 4000xp.

Despite seeking for another hour, I'd still be 1000xp up over accepting the mediocrity of party A. I gave up the 'XP is XP, live with it' thoughts about 20 levels ago - I'm honestly suprised you still believe in it.

So thats another 200mp down the drain, plus new buffs. So im almost drained. And yet i can still manage without your spiffy Hobgolbin chocolate. To keep my mp up, to keep everyone refreshed, to make the mob weaker than an elderly women in a wheel chair, and able to help back-up heal. Again I'm not the best at my job people are better than me. They have btr equip, they may no more than me, have a different subjob. BUT FOOD IS NOT PART OF MY SCHEDUAL

If you need constant refresh + auto refresh + ballad to be able to operate you are too high maintaince and something needs to change. If you cant operate on your own, then how do you expect to operate in a pty. I'm going to again call bullshit on you. From everything I've gleamed about RDM (Yes, I try to read as much as I can on every job, not just my own) BLM is at the bottom of the Refresh ladder, and can be skipped if there are 3 other people that need it first (in your case, four, though any respectable DRK should be able to Aspir quite a bit back on their own, thus eliminating the need for their Refresh.) Of course, lately every RDM I've partied with has been stricken with Fundamental Retarded Disease and likes to Refresh the DRK before the PLD or main healer (normally me.) And food is, of course, not on your schedule - because that 2 seconds before the first pull is definately not worth the 40 MP and 3 INT a Pumpkin Pie provides. Or the ridiculous 350 gil or so they run you.

Absurd. If, at 59, when I'm wearing my Verm. Cloak, am I to tell the BRD "Please sir, keep me out of Ballad range, I've got more than enough on my own?" No, because the BRD's JOB is to keep the mages under Ballad. And it's my job, as a mage, to keep out of the melee song range so Ballad works to full effect. I'm not asking for a constant full MP - but if the group wants me to buff them every minute (100-130MP each time), keep the avatar out to add melee damage (~5MP/tick, even with Refresh,) keep up backup heals and backup Regens, deal with all the status effects, and so on - then that's what I'm going to do, and I'm going to do it happily. All for the sake of more XP. And 'depend on yourself?' This from the person who says food is not important. Obviously you can't depend on yourself to make good decisions.

Because you're doing both of them in a half-assed fashion. If you're trying to make gil, GO ANON AND TAKE YOUR FLAG DOWN. I fully expect myself to be 100 in at least one craft (possibly a second on my mule) before I hit 75 Summoner. If you're farming, farm. If you're xping, xp. Doing two things at once makes sure that neither of them are 100%. And a final food analogy - "Gosh, Jimmy, I'd sure love to take the family out to dinner, but that $40 needs to go towards that shiny new Porche Daddy's had his eyes on."

Let's be serious here. 12 Pumpkin Pies are ~3800 gil. Lasting 6 hours. Can you make an extra 630 or so gil an hour during your farming to make up for it?

I was leveling NIN in Qufim yesterday and there was a situation where the level 23 or so MNK was wearing a Power Gi. I think that's level 13. The rest of his stuff is the typical MNK fashion from around level 8 or so.
Amazingly, when a pugil hits him for 280 and change he somehow lives. This happened twice. After I saw screwdriver hit other people for significantly less, I decided to ask what he was weraing. He told me. I figured...

He says but what else can I wear. He said the beetle gear sucks. I told him it doesn't. I was wearing all +1 beetle (+1 eva with each piece too), winged boots, emp. hairpin, tossing shurikens like mad at 10k per stack, eating chiefies, blink tanking like all hell, casting other ninjitsu like all hell, +1 mantle, Spike necklace...The list goes on. The only thing that wasn't HQ that I was wearing or using were my level 14 rings. My level 36 rings are +1 LOL.

So I just have a hard time understanding people like this. He said to me but your stuff is all +1. I said it's just money. Go out and get some current gear, if not HQ, and THEN come and level. So I agree with you Cubs. People who wear stuff that's 10 levels behind or more completely waste your time, they think their money is more important, and they endanger the party.

From everything I've gleamed about RDM (Yes, I try to read as much as I can on every job, not just my own) BLM is at the bottom of the Refresh ladder, and can be skipped if there are 3 other people that need it first (in your case, four, though any respectable DRK should be able to Aspir quite a bit back on their own, thus eliminating the need for their Refresh.) Of course, lately every RDM I've partied with has been stricken with Fundamental Retarded Disease and likes to Refresh the DRK before the PLD or main healer (normally me.) And food is, of course, not on your schedule - because that 2 seconds before the first pull is definately not worth the 40 MP and 3 INT a Pumpkin Pie provides. Or the ridiculous 350 gil or so they run you.

Absurd. If, at 59, when I'm wearing my Verm. Cloak, am I to tell the BRD "Please sir, keep me out of Ballad range, I've got more than enough on my own?" I'm not asking for a constant full MP - but if the group wants me to buff them every minute (100-130MP each time), keep the avatar out to add melee damage (~5MP/tick, even with Refresh,) keep up backup heals and backup Regens, deal with all the status effects, and so on - then that's what I'm going to do, and I'm going to do it happily.
