Apperantly, Sony has scrapped the Boomerang controller loved by so many (lol) in favor of a new, sleeker design. The new design not announced yet, but the changes were credited to the fact that the controller wasnt liked by its own fan base.

Now, if only nintendo would listen.

Haha, I made a comment on this a while back, glad their changing it, that thing looked dangerous.

I don't really care who they listen to, because they are doin it right. They gave us a new way to play video games. With every System. It's always unique at the time it comes out. It's always easy to use. It's always fun to play. Everyone else is gonna see what nintendo does, rate the success of it, then incoporate it into thier own system.

Nintendo invented:

The standard setup, Movement on the left, buttons on the right.
The D-pad
Start and Select Buttons
Shoulder buttons
The diamond setup for action buttons
Hand help gaming
The thumb stick

I'm looking forward to light saber duels with the revolution controller.

of course they did that stuff first. They were only the second console out, and the Atari was just a joystick with 3 buttons, and thats all they needed, because games couldnt be more complex than that. By the time Nintendo made a system, games needed that kind of button variety.

And we dont exactly need to point out that so far the only real "Bad idea" for a controller to be used was a Nintendo. GOD that N64 controller still gives me headaches.

well, and that mamoth of a controller X-Box used before thet scaled it down.

eh? most of the fans of nintendo are in love with the new controller... though I'm fairly sure Nintendo could have all their employees take a dump in a box and the fanboy/girls would still call it "best innovation ever"

lmao

One of my favorite things when the PS2 came out was it had the same controller as the PS. My favorite controller of all time is still the original Nintendo controller, but its a lot smaller than it used to be.

Stop with the nintendo fan bashing, seriously, it does nothing but portray you badly. God forbid anyone likes anything new and original, rather than the same thing over and over again.

I'm positive this change is at least partially due to the revolution's controller, because the boomerang didn't look that bad. I didn't like the standard sony controllers because the grips were too small and the boomerang had huge grips. Sony will defintely include the revolution controller's features into their systems, since everyone always does. Although, Trippyhippy did forget to add analog controls(thumbstick first then buttons later) and rumble/force-feedback to the list of everything that's been copied.

I'd perfer the PS3 controller to keep the same layout but just be bigger than the PS1 or 2. I was playing God of War last night and my left hand cramped up my pinkie went numb. I need bigger grips. :D

N64 Controller was the best ever. Dreamcast comes in at a not too distant second.
Sega Genisis Was the worst ever. Xbox comes in at a Close second.

Someone needs a history lesson.

Because trip has delicate tiny itty bitty lil hands and can't just admit it's an inflated PS2 controller ... or play an xbox ... ever .. let alone at someone's place without the standard out of the box controllers :P

Hate you.

Edit: I will give you this much tho, the black/white button placement eats balls, but they're rarely used so meh

Just because I think halo sucks, doesn't mean I don't like X-Box. There are a number of other reasons as well. :spiteful:

But in all seriousness, I did play this one really kick ass Star Wars game over at a friends house, I don't recall the name of it, you were a team leader and had to tell your guys where to o and what to do. Good game. Fight night Doesn't suck either.

But the controller still sucks. Big or little. The best thing about it is the fully analog triggers like the DC had.

Hate.... halo... GAWD!

Anywho.. yer thinkin either battlefront or republic commando which both get a giant  in my book .. mebbe not so much the first BF as the most recent one but still solid gameplay no matter what system/controller you prefer.

...the same thing over and over again.

Mario, Megaman and the Zelda series make up for a LARGE part of Nintento's library... every gaming company is guilty of monotony and recycling old ideas. Don't turn a blind eye just because you like Nintendo. :) It obviously works, too, otherwise people wouldnt' keep buying all these rehashed ideas on the consoles (remember all the Tomb Raider clones, all the GTA clones, Mario platformer clones, Street Fighter 2 clones?)

My thoughts exactly. The old controller was too small. The hand grips just aren't long enough. That is why I was really looking foward to the new controller. It looked large enough for any size hand. I don't know why people disliked it so much, if they had seen pictures of it in actual hands it looks quite reasonable.

I'm well aware of companies recycling their games, but Sony and Microsoft have more identical games within genres than just characters. The games all begin to play exactly the same, they all copy the same model and don't bother to introduce . Nintendo is where new genres are made, Sony and Microsoft are where they're done to death, but with better and better graphics. Megaman hasn't been on a Nintendo console in a good while, but it's still on the handhelds; and Mario's been through more genre's than any other character I can think of so it's not just the same game with new characters.

Nice, the old one looked stupid
