The breast is best!

A few issues:

1) The FDA would never approve human milk for commercial sale/distribution. Even if they did, the amount of regulation and safety procedures put into it would make it prohibitively expensive.

There are hundreds of breast milk banks across the country that are ran under commercial laws, meaning they pay the same taxes, etc. It's very similar to sperm banks. The screening processes that they incur are very severe and tedious, but get the job done (as of yet, there aren't any unknown pathogens or communicable genetic diseases that have shown up in such screenings).

It is, inherently, very expensive because of the effort required, but in retrospect, it wouldn't be all that costly. Of course, on the scale of mass production it would be impossible, unless a synthetic breast milk (human) was to be created, or something that utilizes small amounts of human breast milk and other formula. The same can be said for ice cream, as it isn't entirely all milk (though the majority percentage of it is).

2) You'd never find the number of women you need who are willing to meet the demands for milk that even a small-batch producer like Ben and Jerry's would have. A single cow produces gallons of milk per day, at the absolute peak of milk production a human is only outputting about 40-60 ounces of milk per day.

There could be answers via biochemistry, and as said above, somehow creating a formula (though they already exist) that contains predominantly natural breast milk, or a synthetic substitute that contains almost all of the same chemicals and properties. Whether or not they are doing this now, well, I have no idea since there are a lot of crazy experiments going on. The point is, it's possible to use breast milk in ice cream, but it all depends on how much of it is real and how much is a solution of breast milk and other compensating nutrients.

3) While the majority of bovine illnesses cannot be transferred to humans, it's very easy for illness to travel from human to human via bodily fluids like milk.

It's not entirely easy for illnesses to travel from human to human. Actually, it's very rare for that to actually happen. When the mother breast feeds the child, the mother's antibodies are transported also through the milk, along with calcium, etc. So ailments like AIDs and HIV would most definitely be passed on, but not things such as the common cold. So it happens, but not as easily as one would presume.

4) The flavor of an animal's milk is affected by that animal's diet. In humans this is beneficial, because it helps babies to acquire tastes for whatever the mother is eating on a regular basis. However, imagine what the ice cream would be like if the milk-producer had a steady diet of something like curry or heavy garlic dishes.

They actually have done studies where they hired taste testers to find out what the mothers had eaten during an 8-hour period through their breast milk...

I swear, what will PETA come up with next. So its wrong for cows to be kept in factory farms and milked on a consistent basis, but its ok for a human female to be subjected to the same treatment? I swear, these idiots need to get their priorities straight. To quote a famous brisket restaurant here in Texas: "Mankind didn't claw its way to the top of the food chain.......TO EAT VEGETABLES!"

So, People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals, FUCK OFF!

If animals didn't want to be eaten then they would have said something by now.

If animals didn't want to be eaten then they would have said something by now.

As a side note, if god didnt want us to eat animals, then why are they made of meat? LOL

Well, the U.N is attempting to pass a mandate that forces all signatories to downgrade meat consumption (predominantly red meat) 60% by the year 2010.

The UN should have more important things to think about than freaking red meat consumption.

As a side note, if god didnt want us to eat animals, then why are they made of meat? LOL

I'm not a fan of this logic. I'm all for eating for tasty animals too.

But humans are made of meat too ;|

Human meat is the best meat ask any cannibal that :D

Let's not forget that milking is pretty autonomous now, even down to the point where a cow gets milked when it wants to get milked with its own will. And they seem to enjoy it, or at least not care, since they don't buck while it's going on.

I'm also pretty sure that since Ben & Jerry are huge hippies themselves, their cows are free range. So there isn't much "factory farming" going on.

Human meat is the best meat ask any cannibal that :D

What do you call a cannibal that eats his mother's sister???? LOL Anyways, yeah we humans are red meat too, but we aint animals.......wait......nvm
