You would be that person that I ask, What? to numberous times without still understanding what the hell you are saying. On top of that I would then proceed to talk about you to my LS members.

I think one of my favorites is when you are mid-battle and someone is screaming at you in, what seems to be, a friggen foreign language, and then they proceed to get pissed.

3. Message boards. Ok, here is where you should have proper english. This will not disappear after 20 seconds of conversation or battle spam, it's here to stay for a while and people will judge you on the material you leave. 4. This one is somewhat minor but it's an exception. NM camping. My conversations when im NM hunting usually is restricted to: "Busy, camping." Should they have an urgent question will get answered "y" or "n" or very short and rapidly sent auto-translaor messages.

P.S. (I absolutely love these): It is six thirty in the morning, I may not have caught all spelling mistakes, you grammar freaks, please feel free to point them out and make fun of me. I really should try to sound intelligent when I am awake :)

Ok I am going to break this down, cause some of it I agree with it and other parts I think is an excuse to be lazy!

In #1 you refer to party/battle situations...My main job is White Mage and you cannot tell me that I personally do not have a lot do, seeing as how I have 6 lives in my hands and 5 of which will be just a bit upset if they die (some more than others). I think this is the time when you should be MOST clear with your sentences and grammer...because if you get someone like me, who will ignore it if it is unclear or mixed jumbo, and this maybe something important you need to tell me, like link, protect, erase, or whatever.

#2 When you have been in your LS and everyone knows you and you have been chit chatting with them for however long...great, they can understand your shortcuts...so I agree with what you said there.

#3 EXACTLY, that text isn't going away until you push a button, come on at least give it a quick read before you post, FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST! I am guessing that hundreds of thousands of people read these forums and if you are trying to say something important, but it is illegible, guess what, it goes unnoticed or gets read and then forgotten!

#4 Ok, NM camping has to be an exception because there are idiots out there who try to get you to talk so you take time to answer and miss an opportunity to spam Widescan, so an abbr. response from you is more than I give them. If I know its a legit camper and we have been competeing for the NM before, usually we will throw a, "Back again...lol" at each other and be done with it, cause if you are a legit camper you yourself don't have time to be chit chatting with someone...you are out there for a reason!

You're and Your can be hard for us that dousnt (not sure how to spell that right.. -_-) have English as our main language so dont get annoyed by that.

english is my first language, but i work with a lot of people who have english as a second language. It can be hard for them trying to understand with our spelling and pronunciation changing from word to word, hell half the time i type like a five year old. it is easier for me to shorten my words than spell them all wrong because i suck at typing :cry:

needless to say i do not go out of my way to intentionally misspell words for the sake of doing so (i use u not j00) but imo it is better to shorten the length of the words bc people will understand them better than me typing them in full and misspelling them horrendously so that it is harder for them to read. ^^

i don't see how it is faster to type like that though... i think it would make it more difficult to take the time to figure out an abominable spelling that could still beunderstood. and while yes you can read, it does take an extra second for your brain to register the word since you are not looking at a typical spelling. but that is just me ><

I had to seriously concentrate on that whole little paragraph earlier and I completely agree with you, because that is just awful...and have you ever noticed that people that type like that wants an answer immediately? and you really just want to say, HELLO, I am trying to get through your little sentence right now and then I will get back to you.

I understand that English is not some peoples first language...and I am not knocking that, but I can usually tell this and don't get upset. I have a problem with someone whose 1st language IS English and still speaks like this.

yea..... i am most likely the worst speller in the world, but i at least try to correct myslef^^; but man some of these people are worse then me how is that possible?
 
I FOUND THE SOURCE!!! It happens in grammar school.

If your children write little sayings on their notebooks/yearbooks like; PB4Ugo2bed, BF4E, 2QT2B4GOT10, Gr8, L8er... etc.

BURN their hands and get them out of the habbit now! You will be doing society a favor in the long run.

That too is one of my personal favourites.

But, really . . . I don't think that blaming media is the right course of action for people with terrible spelling and grammar. That's passing the buck. I grew up on cartoons and video games, yet still found time to gain a working knowledge of the english language.

Fact is, if you becomes "u" and are becomes "r" you're just fucking lazy. And, if you're to lazy to add an extra couple keystrokes, I'm to lazy to give a rat's ass about what you have to contribute.

Screw spelling, what pisses me off is people walking. Though out school it is drilling into you that you walk on the right side of the hall you go though the right side of the door. But go to a store people walking all over the place, left side, right side up side, down side. How can we expect people to spell correctly if they can’t even learn to walk in an ordinal manner?

Ok I feel better now; I’ll go back to my padded room.

LMAO. This is one of my personal pet peeves as well. That and the fucking people you say excuse me to because you can't get by them and they move a god damn inch.

I have this neat little wav from Altered Beast for Sega Genesis, it's Zeus saying "WISE, FWOM YORE GWAVE!". I'll try to remember to post it here just for WSM.

And on a personal note, I can't see how people use "u" "r" "ppl", etc. I find it tougher to type that way than to just type of the full form of the word..
 
If you don't know how to spell a long word, or a short difficult word, do what most of us do while trying to spell Garlaige Citadel. Spell it like it sounds then write (sp?) at the end.
