Pro's: Supports HDMI (1.2 vs. PS3 1.3 - minor shadowing difference at best is all that means), HUGE 120gb hard drive, and hurray it comes in black and you don't have to spend an additional $15 on a HDMI cord. And it comes with a month of free xbox live. Joy.

Cons: They haven't done anything about the cooling system and the CPU is still that 90nm chip not the super cool 65 nm. For us laypeople, it's still just as noisy as the xbox360 released a year ago.

My question to you people is... would it be worth waiting until the rumored Fall release to pick up a 360? There's been rumblings of a price drop as well as the influx of 65nm chips. Or, on the flipside, will these additions probably not make much of a difference in the long run, assuming the "Elite" doesn't break. I'm itching to try some of these games but skeptical at the same time from all the horror stories I've heard of (even from personal experience watching Oblivion ruin my roomies brand new 360 a week after it was purchased).

Oh ya, and if you trade in an original xbox for this Elite version, you get $50 off. Which means the total difference in price between the Elite versus the 20gig released a year ago is only $30 plus tax.

I just put the fan base for it

There is a problem with the 360's cooling? News to me. I do remember the Nyko thingy causing problems but that's hardly a 360 cooling problem.

I don't actually own one so I can't say for sure, I'm just spitting back what I found online. People complained their xboxs overheated, I saw firsthand something like that though I can't be sure if it was the game that caused the xbox to crash or overheating (it was very warm when it happened). Either way.. back to the first post... lol what do you guys think of the Elite?

Guess I got lucky then.

Elite is a great deal if you dont allready own a 360. If you allready have a 360 its still a deal but not as large. The HDMI port is not needed as 360 supports 1080p through VGA cables anyways. The extra harddrive is the deal, $180 for a 120GB HD if you buy it seperate. with Elite you are only being charged about $80 for 120GB HD.

It's $180 for the hard drive either way.

Core $300 - No harddrive.
Premium $400 - 20 gig HD.
Elite $480 - 120 gig HD.

20 gig standalone- $100.
120 gig standalone - $120.

By buying as a package they give you a bonus.

By getting premium, you get wireless controllers instead of wired.

By getting elite, you get HDMI.

Considering that you can find HD online for half the price... I don't really consider the deal that great. On top of which... most people say they have no HD space issues using the premium. The best deal looks to me to be the Premium.

That's what I'm looking at once they get they get their whole.... hardware failure situation under control.

Core is more than just no hard drive.

Premium gets you 20 GB HD, 1 Wireless Controller(as opposed to a wired,) 1 Xbox Live Headset(as opposed to none,) and Component cables.

Elite is the same thing as the Premium, but the larger hard drive, and an HDMI cable in addition to the Component cables.

Not sure about Core, but Premium and Elite come with 1 month free of Xbox Live Gold, so thats an additional $4.25.

Also, the 120 gig is $180 MSRP, not $120. The Elite is exactly the same price as the Core + 120 gig drive, but you get the cables, wireless controller, and headset thrown in with it.

premiun doesnt come with a month of live. if they did they dont now. i got one last week and it didnt come with one.

Yeah, mine did. And when i called in to get mine fixed they said they'd give me another months free of gold so idk. If you have the money then shit get an elite. If nothing else the black is sexy ;). To be honest though i dont think the HD is needed. I havent even used half of my 20 gb HD. Then again i don't keep demos, i don't download movies or shows off marketplace and i don't have any XBLA games so I really dont need it, you on the other hand may want that extra space in which case i say get the elite.

even I knew that :P seems a bunch of systems got fucked up horribly while playing Dead Rising cause it uses the system's processor to the max and the cooling wasn't able to keep it cool sooo long periods of play fucked a system up. At least, that's what I've read at a bunch of places.

Yeah not really trying to debate the details, just stating that the Elite is not 120 gigs for 80 bucks. It's 120 gigs instead of the 20 gig which sells for an outrageous price of 100 in the first place.

The deal is basically that you're getting HDMI with it.

I go on a strickly personal basis for my knowledge of flaws. If it doesn't happen to my friends 360's or mine, someone broke their shit and wanted a freebie.

I got an Elite 360 and it rocks. Nothing's wrong with it, just gotta get me an HD TV so I can utilize the cables. It was a great deal, though, since after Kotsu moved out I lost access to a 360.

I think mine has a cooling problem. I can't use it for more than three hours without a 'disc read error' popping up. After it's off for a few minutes, it's back to 100%.
