The Epic PLD Kenchion

Threads not really a flame, just semi-constructive criticism. It's kinda funny how many people are whining at the quality of this "flame" when it was pointed out several times that a mod moved it. =P

Feel free to read through the thread before making dumb posts, it's not likely to suddenly poof on you.

P.S. SE WS at the start of a fight is a bad idea
P.P.S. voke macros are annoying but have nothing to do with the quality of the person's role as the tank. =P

I lol @ this thread and Helius's sad excuses to put the blame on Kenchion when it was entirely his own fault. From someone who's leveled both Drk and Pld, Helius, you don't have a clue as to what you're doing and how to play your job not only correctly, but to work with a party that is limited in its abilities. If you can't understand that the tank needs x amount of mp to be effective and can't understand the basic fundamentals of hate control, go ... level Bst or Pup or something. Just stop playing DD's if you're going to act like that in parties.

I would suggest to just do the /em /wrists, but that macro is sooooo over done now. Its like the Papa Roach last resort macro.

if I hear that god damn macro again i'm going to fucking go insane

OP: Don't suck at a job then complain about others.
I know Ken and he does his job just fine

Quezt = purp (That was a WoW reference to epic)

If your tank sucks, deal with it and control hate. If your tank goods, deal more damage and control hate. Control hate!

As Virl mentioned, while doing OMG damage might be nice, it is not so nice that you have just used entire pool of mp from your mage. Souleater itself is massive hate as people have mentioned, i could still pull hate if i activate it after 50%. Normally in exp party, i totally ignore that JA unless it is for chain#5 and i make sure the mob will die or will die from drain.

As mentioned by someone else about SATA, PLD do have higher versatility in setting up sata. I normally tell my party, PLD flash 1st, [Somone that can get hate] 2nd provoke/ws/whatever AFTER thf line up. This ensure that the person assuming he is war can still get hate off me from the 1st Flash. It normally works very well when i'm lvling my PLD.

And as NIN > PLD in term of getting hate off you after Souleater.... no way lol, that drk will have to die or tank entire fight, not many or probably no NIN can get hate back without sata i think.

Oh yea did i mentioned i always try to give thf a good and easy time to sata in my pt when i'm the tank? :p

Hope it will be the same when i'm lvling thf ;-;

Edit: Virl > Vilurum ._.

I'm curious as to why no one read this thread all the way through since I posted my topic of "I understand and doing the WS <50% is the most reasonable thing." yet here everyone still harassing me? You trying to take this fight further? 'Cause I wont bite. I made a mistake, I admitted to it, shut up and move on.

Not really directed to you (at least not my post), i have similar problems with a ls mate that only interested to do massive damage. Wish he can read Vilurum post :D

If he plays the game, he has internet access and can presumably visit websites and read forum posts that his LS mate directs him to. :P

Helius, I think part of it is just that the whole "hate control, don't be an idiot DD" stuff is a really important point that everyone wants to put in their own two cents to reiterate. Not so much that you're giving any impression that you have not yet gotten the point (seeing as, well, you're not giving that impression). The topic also seems to have progressed to a few side discussions of other things to do and to avoid doing.

(What I *do* find vaguely surprising though, is the number of people who don't have any problem with annoying macros. They don't affect gameplay competence, true, but they can have quite a few subtle but significant effects on party psychology. It's kinda like a buzzing insect that won't bite you: just because it's not *hurting* you doesn't mean it's not distracting you and annoying you, which indirectly cuts down your focus on whatever it is you would otherwise be paying attention to.)

It depends on the macro. It's also like the lesser of the evils (if I see another papa roach macro...)

On a rather different note. I know I rushed my drk to 75 really fast second time around. But the number of times I used souleater in a party was sad compared to the first time around. A lot of party just don't allow for wasting mp on souleater. That or we kill so fast that I souleater, mob dies, and if I don't cancel it before next mob I got super amounts of hate.

Oh well, its a fun ability when used correctly. ;;

yeah my pld is 59.. I have freaking +20 enmity and not geared poorly.. Souleater WS is still gonna take hate from me, it has before. only way i can get it back is spam all hate jas and cure 4. I mean that and you guys use absorb TP? DRK is probably the hardest to get hate back from, I have less trouble with RNG on birds.

On the other note I HATE flavor text, god its so gay. save it for yourself.

-Though curious, does no one else have a problem with that macro?

in short not a fan of the battle spam, in dynamis kinda unavoidable, but really my only annoyance is when people have a 15/30sec party reminder's in there macros... i'v played pld and nin and theres always something that could be done waiting for provoke to go up. ws's, the odd cure to a party member or even a ninjutsu enfeeble... anything other then just standing there gettin beat on for 30 secs and doing nothing to retain hate.

:shok: oh and souleater at the start? things like a mini provoke without the dmg ontop of it taken into consideration.

Pfff, screw that, /ja Berserk <me>, /equip DD stuff, watch DRK tank :P

My typical provoke macro :x
/ja "Provoke" <t>
/p ~(Provoke)~
/wait 15
/echo (Provoke) in 15
/wait 15
/echo (Provoke) ready.

Albeit, I'm no endgame tank, but off chance I ever level NIN or PLD this is what I always use.

I can understand this and this is pretty much why I echo them unless I'm in solo or with friends, the mind does have its own filter though over time we do filter out constant stuff or condition our brain to give less or nearly no attention. It can be a good or bad thing, good as in not giving attention to rpg macros and bad that you miss important party chat.

Rpg magros aren't really bad in my opinion they just add another aspect to play, not everyone(including myself) will appreciate them so they should be turned off in important events such as exp, endgame, etc. unless you're helping your social ls with small stuff, solo, or with friends, campaign/besieged,etc.

By the time you would become an endgame tank, you would automatically be aware of the passage of 30 seconds. It's a blessing, and a curse :P
