Okay, House has won more Emmys than Scrubs. Let's, however, take a look at a step-by-step process of NINETY PERCENT of House episodes:

1. Shitty pseudo-dramatic beginning of how the patient gets sick.
2. House and his team diagnose the patient (IT'S NOT LUPUS HAR HAR STILL FUNNY AFTER THREE SEASONS)
3. Patient gets more sick
4. House diagnoses the patient again
5. Patient gets more sick, to the point where he is seconds away from death
6. House manages to discover what is really wrong with the patient through some glorious unrealistic epiphany which has absolutely nothing to do with the episode itself.
7. Patient is okay, House is still a douche.

Oh, and there's some shit about his leg too.
That's completely disregarding the underlying story line that's different in each season, which they usually spend 1/4-1/2 the episode on. That's the process for curing most of the patients, but that's not the plot of the entire episode.

The fact that there's no Dr. Cox option on that poll makes it irrelevent.

I was thinking the same thing. I too enjoy scrubs and how rawks Dr. Cox is. =P

I vote.

Dr Grem: PHD KKTHX IMHO.

Episode layout:

Dramatic intro.
Things catch fire.
Grem drinks coffee.
end credits.

That still means that 45 minutes on average are being wasted on crappy filler that nobody cares about. House would be a lot better if it focused on the lives of the main characters rather than a single patient each episode that you'll never see again.

What kind of retarded time do you measure episodes by? Shows are only 45 minutes long to begin with, and 50% of 45 minutes is not 45 minutes. You're looking at 20-30 minutes being used for the patient, at most. They still develop the main characters very well in the time for the main storylines.

Scrubs could have been set anywhere, they do whole episodes that completely ignore the aspect of the hospital, House at least stays true to the fact that it's a MEDICAL DRAMA. If they cut out the curing the patients part, it would change the whole meaning of the show. With scrubs, it wouldn't be much of a change.

Also, they're still developing the characters when they're with patients, it's not like they just cut to a shot of the patient sleeping for half the show.

I meant 45 minutes of patient time in the 60 minute time block, so that includes commercials. I still don't like the fact that 66% of a House episode has little to no bearing on future episodes. It should be the other way around.

I wonder how many people voted for one or the other just because of the popularity of the show, and not because they watch it.

That's a really stupid way to measure a show; but using your dumb "including commercials" method then house spends 1/2 to 3/4 of each episode on the underlying plot, the rest on the patient. There's only 20-30 minutes "wasted" on the patient each episode; and they're still developing those main characters while staying true to their purpose as a medical drama.

Since I don't watch scrubs, I can't cite off each episode title. I'm just going off what my roommate told me(who stopped watching because medicine was an afterthought usually) and what I watched when the show first started. Most of the time the only way you'd know they were in a hospital was their clothes; it was where they worked, but didn't have much bearing on the plots.

I've seen every episode of Scrubs at least once D:

...
omg where did my life go...?

I never really took the time to watch either show. I dont spend much time at the teletube anyway :p

btw, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN

No examples and going only on hearsay?

Gotcha.

ewww gross. School...

Now youre going to disappear for weeks on end, amiryt?

I hope not >.> Just these first few days will be sucky and I'll be too tired to do anything. I'mma try to log onto FFXI tomorrow or later tonight though.
By next week when I'm all used to school again...I'll be on moar, lolz.

And so I am still on topic, too:

Yeah, complete heresay; but that's only true if you ignore the part where I said I'm remembering some of the episodes I actually watched when scrubs was first on. It's been years, so I wouldn't remember every nuance in the plot, but I do remember the hospital was just a back drop; not actually important.

I should have been more clear on that, don't get your panties in a knot. Diagnosing and treating patients is fine, it wouldn't kill the writers to use a different method of diagnosing and treating the patient instead of the same way every time. It's the same shit, different person/disease.

so who wins, the apple or the orange?
