It's fine, I suppose. Promo image for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, a super robot show that's currently airing in Japan. It's been going for awhile now, and has been picked up by ADV. I don't really have a link to it offhand, wikipedia's entries are jam packed with spoilers up to and including this weekend's episode, so that's not necessarily a good idea.

Hot blood, giant robots, and drills. Perfection.

It's by the same guys that did FLCL, and after having seen the first few episodes I have to agree. We might as well devote this entire section to this anime.

If you've only seen the first few episodes, let me just say that they're nothing. It will continue to get better and better until episode 15, which is animated with the quality of a movie. The series could almost have ended there and I would have been satisfied.

Then after the recap, they intentionally piss you off for a few episodes, just so the next ones will be even better.

Overall, I'm withholding any overall judgment, the series isn't over, and this is Gainax we're dealing with.

Oh, and if you're planning to watch it, avoid any spoilers like the plague, they're pretty rough for this. Some things will give you a nice good backhand if you don't quite see them coming. :D
 
I've only seen... I think episode 22, which COMPLETELY ruined everything up to that point for me in my opinion >.<

I shall look into this forthwith!
 
Just watched the first few episodes. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but there is a show we can agree on Garvin.

Ruined? Really? 17-20 or so were the slower Rossiu episodes, after that, it gets incredibly awesome again. Those episodes are needed, too, for contrast, and just to piss you off so the following episodes are better. :D

I say ruined because that was the episode where they just spoiled the hell out of crap >.<
 
If you go to 4chan's /m/ board, there's a sticky about episode 25, the one that just came out.

I won't spoil it, but damn...something major went down in that episode.

It's a good anime so far I'm only episode 5 though.
 
Every time I see an ad for giant robot anime, I hear an echoing in my head... "Ga-ga-ga, ga-ga-ga gao-gai-ga..."
