The Future of Laptops

I do not envy any tech who would have to repair it (hardware wise).

That's a great idea. But like Lucki said, it would be a bitch to repair.

yeah, or developing the hardware that will roll like that, unless somehow the motherboard, graphics card etc. is in that little tube thing =/

The hardest part would be getting the touch screen to roll-up.

The hardware for that has been in development for a long time. There's plenty of flexible computer components developed and under development.

The flexible parts would need to also [somehow] be durable enough to hold upright on their own as well as be able to have the same sensitivity as inflexible parts on top of being able to withstand having it done to them consistently.

The concept is neat but seems highly gimmicky. In order to pull it off well it'd likely be absurdly expensive. On top of that, I'm not seeing a way for CDs/DVDs to work with it (Unless they decide to pop videos and game installations onto USB drives).

Seems to serve little more than eye candy. Very expensive, very fragile eye candy.

Also, wtf is the point? A macbook air is far more convenient for one to carry than a (probably) heavier and overall larger device, that quite frankly looks somewhat goofy. On top of that, projected pcs are actually being developed, so that you can turn any surface into a gesture controlled screen, and a simulated keyboard. All of this, in a smaller package than that goofy roll.

I have doubts about the ultimate future of projection screen PCs. Most people really don't enjoy the idea of everyone around them seeing exactly what they're working on or looking at.

I am, however, kinda surprised that I haven't seen anyone taking the next logical step of mating video glasses with a gestural control system.

This is a good concept but won't work irl

One of the possible future laptop is to use your eye glasses as screen and your brain wave to control your "laptop" like in Dragon Ball Z scanner thingy.

And i know that is possible, but the problem is that, the modern technology isn't advance enough to make all those hardware super tiny to fit all those "graphic card" "mobo?" and other hardware component into that tiny eye wear.

I've been reading about this very tech in Engadget and Wired; it's not far away.

Vegeta, what does the scouter say about his power level?

But Nappa, you know what it says.

Now, imagine where we'd be in the Internet had Vegeta actually said that.

Is that an Aperature Science logo on the side?
