The Gay Marriage thread.

I would like to request that the Gay Marriage thread be unlocked or re-created with tighter discussion parameters. It veering toward religion is completely justified as the greatest proponents of Prop 8 were religious parties. The moral objection towards gay marriage is central to the argument and cannot or rather should not be disseminated from the thread.

That being said, I agree that some of the posts from both corners got a touch personal for my taste. It is a heated issue and will naturally stir strong emotional response from some members. However I don't think that the thread should suffer as a result of some indiscretion. Reign people in, establish some solid ground rules and the discussion can hopefully continue in a respectful fashion.

I posted the subject in hopes that it would be about just that, the subject. If you want to make a religious discussion, please start with a new thread as it was not the purpose of the original thread.

The problem is that the religious aspect is really central to the discussion in that one side was largely funded by organized religion as well as the fact that many of its supporters do so based on religious doctrine.

I think Mirewen's and Dejavu's points put the issues in a respectable light. At that, I'm going to lock this thread because I only replied to the OP to provide information that it is under review.
