Bullshit. Thats all i have to say on the matter of rse2 boots and the apparant equal opportunity affirmitive action style droprate. I know its supply and demand at its finest, but common fucking sense seems to tell me that they could have set up the drop rate to fit the populations needs rather than making it so all races and sexes drop off the stupid bcnm equally. I should have made my char a woman.

For those of you who don't know what i'm talking about, there is a gender and race gap between rse2 boot prices (the level 62 ones). The race gap i can excuse, because different races have different stats. But what really pisses me off is that for example, a hume female char pays 700k for her rse2 boots, where as I, with the exact same stats as a female char, pay 4 mil, for the same fucking boots. Or, for a more extreme example, taru males pay 1 mil, taru females pay 90k.....more than a 10x gap for the exact same fucking boots.

(And again, i understand the concept of supply and demand, please, for christ's sake, don't come on here and say "oh thats just supply and demand." I understand the concept, they should have adjusted the supply to meet the needs of the population, i.e. more male boots for more male chars)

well...i dunno why you don't wanna call it what it is, but it IS supply and demand. Hume F rse2 boots are cheaper than male becaue there's alot less female DD than male, as such they aren't gonna sell as often...so i'm not sure exactly what you're flaming here, other than basic economics

Had to do it. Oh, and if you had checked the price a few months back, they only went for like 1.5 mil or so...Maybe more, but they were 2 mil at the least. It's also gone way up because a few people realized the value of the armor, and when everyone saw a few wearing it, they all ran out like OMG MUSTGETBOOTS! And paid out their asses until the price somehow hit f'ing 4 mil. Kind of funny if you ask me. Good job, stupid people.

I'm mostly flaming the fact that there is census that shows the demographics of ffxi chars, and the drop rates on these items (which have the exact same stats) could with almost not effort, be adjusted to better meet the needs of the ffxi playing population, but due to poor planning there is a significant shortage in the male versions of these items. 3 seconds of planning would have prevented this gap. Its just poor planing and theres no excuse for it.

well...if there is a census w/ race sex and job demographics it looks like 3 seconds of planning on your part could have saved you about 3.3mil. So where's your arguement? you're mad because SE didn't setup the drop rates to fit the graph? i got news for ya pal, THAT'S EVERYWHERE IN THIS GAME. My sky LS has pretty close to the same number of plds as blms, while our plds have gotten all their koenig from sky, there are still several of our blm's that need a. hands. Deal with it, and if you honestly don't think there's an excuse for it...then why support SE's choice by buying the boots and then flaming about it on a message board that they don't read?

Aside from being a pain in the ass...he does actually have a point. With the first RSE as you all no doubt know you just wander into a lvl 30ish zone, find a chest then take the key item back to mr gobby. Because you do this for your own character it means that (in theory) there will be the same amount of armour as there is players.

Of course with RSE 2 there is equal chance of any RSE dropping so unless there is going to be the exact same amount of people playing as each race/gender, there will but a surplus of armour for some race/genders and a shortage for others.

SE probably could have done something to help solve this problem...

But if they did then someone else would be complaining that the drop rate isn't equal and they are having trouble getting the armour they want, or in an extremely unlikely case the majority of the Xbox360 players choose all the unpopular genders/races, it would no longer be fair and they would have to tinker with it again. Also not every player will want RSE2. As was stated previously certain races suit different jobs better, therefore what good is it making sure that every taru can get a piece that a meleer would choose when 90% of them are mages? (obviously exagerated figure, but you get my point.)

That sure was a big rant...enjoy! :D

A simple autogenerated ratio file the BCNM links to would fix the issue.

However, if they go through with it I'm selling my Marine M Boots for big gil :P

You are all right that the price result is supply and demand. However, in this case it doesn't make things very fair. It's the exact same item, used by the exact same jobs, except there are many more of one sex in the game population. It could have been easily fixed by SE if they had just made rse unisex. This way you still have different stats for different races, but you wouldn't have such price differences for identical items over an issue that is made out to be purely asthetic when you start the game.
well...if there is a census w/ race sex and job demographics it looks like 3 seconds of planning on your part could have saved you about 3.3mil.
Who could have predicated lvl 62 rse price issues when they picked their character's sex nearly 2 years ago? You use the example of demand for pld items vs blm items, but that doesn't fit this case. We are talking about identical items for identical jobs for identical race, with the only difference being one has digitized boobs. It's not an issue for rse1 because every player can create matching gear. However, the bcnm for rse2 is random and apparently even distribution which doesn't match the player base like rse1 does. Simple solution would still be to just make it unisex like they did with every other piece in the game. Heck, players even designed unisex wedding gear. 8)

I agree with rones. Hume men would look so good in my hotpants!

I said this in another post and I'll say it again. SE doesn't care about you having issues with the boots (or anything else). All they want is you too play longer. People see those boots and want them... So what do they do? They spend hours, days (maybe weeks wth do i know) farming for them. I don't have experience actually getting these boots so i dunno if you go and camp mobs or if you just do a quest, but either way its designed to BURN YOUR TIME.

They don't care about demographics... They don't care about your time, they care about your money. Think it was stupid of them to put something in that takes long to get? Look at the whole game and how much money they're making...

Actually they do care to an extent. While there objective is to create large time sinks, aspects that come across as unfair cause people to quit the game (not this single incident likely, but a sum of things). They want to consume as much time as they can while still making it fun and keeping people satisified. If they really didn't care like you describe, they could make a single af piece take months of work from a single alliance. That would take more time, but it would make people upset and quit the game which is the opposite of what they want. They can't dangle the carrot on the stick too far out of sight.

Since it is just gloves and boots they could just remove the gender requirement, they look alike on both genders anyway.

The point isn't how long it takes to get the boots and gloves (they're a bcnm, so they don't really take "time") the point is that the same char as mine, at the same level, with a set of tits pays 700k for the same boots I have to pay 4 mil for. This isn't a question of time consumption, or poor planning, its just a matter of there being more of certain kinds of chars than others, and the fact that the drop rate for these items isn't set to fairly meet that need.

You can compare one job to another all you like, but a person can change jobs whenever they want. I can't get my char a sexchange. I could start a new char...after playing to game for over a year and a half, or i can shut the hell up and take it. (I'll be doing option two shortly after i hit send  )

Not that i expect anybody to really give a shit, but the reason i made a big deal about not wanting to hear about supply and demand in the O.P. is because i have a B.A. in economics, and while it is from a lowely state university, one of my pet peeves is when i get lectured on economics by a high school kid who just got done with his first econ class. Thats not directed at anybody specific, but you get my point. I fully understand that this is a free market system, and S/E could care less that i pay more than the people playing female chars. But thats why this in the flameboard, if I wanted to start a pettion to have it changed, i'd be in the main forum, I'm here to bitch, and then to go away.
