We have a bunch of random topics where the few of us are commenting on. I thought we could use a general spot to chit chat since there seems to be no more than a dozen of us on here talking about FFXIV:ARR.

How are you all enjoying it post early launch? I have 16 Miner and 21 Pugilist and I'm quite enjoying it so far.

I made the mistake of logging out to fix my sound today and now I can't get back in. I keep getting the world is full and not even receiving a que.

As soon as I get 30 pug and receive Monk, I think I might hit up GLD or DRG to pour their skills into my Monk.

Oh well, only 2nd day of early access so this is kinda to be expected. The tech support forums are pretty amusing tho, never seen such a collection of self-entitled children. people demanding their money back because of second day early access issues.

I wish I cuold say I've enjoyed the early access, but I've not really had access XD other than a bit. Apparently there's no inactivity instant disconnect in the game and that (as well as JP players coming to NA/EU servers cause higher population so more activities going on and other issues) is part why servers are derpy atm.

Nice of them to extend early access to Thursday. Though next time they should have a longer open beta to stress test their servers.

Edit: I will say, I like the end of era video that plays after inactivity on the title screen Seen it before, but it's fun to have in high quality often. Also, I want that song.

In all seriousness, though, I bought mine off of Amazon. And I got decently far into the campaign (the level 25 quests, I think?) that I can deal with not being able to log in since 90k booted me off around 3pm. I know people are moaning about having it fixed by Tuesday, but personally I just hope it's fixed by next weekend. I'll be house sitting my parent's place, and I'll be kind of bummed if it hasn't been resolved by then!

It blows my mind that they're just outright capping players on servers instead of using the queue system they obviously have, though. So weird.

Honestly even if they fix it within the next day or so, I'm betting with another influx of players on the 27th it will be broken again. I'm also just hoping it's fixed by this weekend. I'm enjoying things so far. It's not difficult to beat what the game was when it was originally released lol. Also I've heard just spamming 0 on the numpad at the main menu to get into the game works wonders apparently.

I haven't even gotten that far. I didn't get to play in the open beta for the head start, and with the duty finder/instances being down so much, my story progression was stuck on the dungeons for over a day. So I leveled with the hunting log and fates and now level 21 without having done the dungeons.

EDIT: Finally got the dungeon done and arrived at anti-gravity boobs Minfilia lol And I got new boots that make my dude look even more ridiculous.

Very nice! Gimme a holler if you see me; I've been meaning to do dungeons on my GLD and MRD and I'm sure you'd appreciate faster duty finder matches with a tank in your party!

My cousin and I are playing together, both of us level 22 and in the same spot on the main story. He's from Gridania, I'm from Ul'dah. However, he's missing a bunch of quests for the level 20 areas. Anyone know why? I have them all unlocked and he doesn't.

The only difference I can think of is that I have unlocked Storyteller III for doing 100/100 quests.

Because we'll put up with it, excusing it as "lol mmo launch issues." In Japan, well, it doesn't quite work that way - especially with a game skating on as thin a sheet of ice as XIV.

But the JP are apparently coming to NA/EU servers cause their servers are so underpopulated comparatively since there are so many and many are spread out between their 25 or so servers.

Beside the point? It kinda contributes to the problems doesn't it? Because they (supposedly) have more servers than they need the population is spread out more so they come to the NA/EU servers to find more activity to do more things with people, but that in turn causes more server congestion on the NA/EU servers which in turn caused NA/EU people to start making characters on JP servers and oye we get a spiral of outta controlness x.x seems they coulda realized they'll need more servers for the entirety of NA and EU regions than they would for JP considering the population itself is vastly different.

Though, tbh, they should had a better open beta test phase imo. More than 2 days to give more people time sign up and play and stress test all their servers adequately and give them enough time to prepare for launch.

I just kinda get sick of "MMO launch, to be expected" when it's a multi-billion dollar company that has been in the industry for decades and has launched an MMO (technically two launches at least) in the past. They should be more prepared. Other than the issue of just logging in, it seems the rest of the game is running great which is nice.

It was beside the point for me because I wasn't "goin' there" as I was making another point entirely. It's just an assumption of yours that this is happening in large numbers and I just don't see it going down like this. First time for everything I suppose, but I'm sticking with them wanting nothing to do with a predominantly western server.

They had plenty of time, they are just being cheap with us because they can be.

I agree, the whole idea that this should be expected is rather ridiculous anymore and it's nothing but a sorry excuse from folks who just don't know any better [to put it nicely]. They'll just keep slowly adding servers until eventually they find the right number for the lowest cost - instead of just treating us like they did Japan and having things in better order.

I'm more shocked that the queues aren't really working and even more shocked that the game doesn't have an auto-disconnect for inactivity o.o I think even FFXI has the auto-disconnect iirc

So I hit 30 Lancer, got Marauder to 15 and I am now a Dragoon! But I have a couple questions.

1. Are there level 30+ Grand Company leves? I have only found the level 25 leves.

2. What is the difference between a linkshell and a grand company. I get that Flames/Adders/Maelstroms are GCs, but what is the other GC thing greyed out on my microbar next to linkshell?

I want dragoon my Marauder is 15, but my Lancer is only 20. Though most of my other base jobs are almost 15 too.

Though sad there's no pet dragon. I liked having a dragon in FFXI
