Good morning ladies, gentlemen, and Daryus.
The infractions system will be robustified on QCDN to automatically enable read-only browsing for repeated offenses, as well as apply temporary and permanent bans.
I can smell the shit already filling our pants. Fear not, young jedis, for our papal mod staff will have the ability to reverse these changes, as well as the ability to manually penalize users. Uhhhhhhuhuhuh... penal.
The mod staff will still be responsible for issuing infractions; however, the infractions system inherently tracks offenses (which we announced here we would be doing manually). This will alleviate some moderator overhead.
Every time an infraction is issued, the user receives a system-generated PM that may contain moderator input. Thus, relying on the infractions system means our users will also maintain records of their offenses in their own PM inbox.
The way it will work is quite simple. When you receive an infraction, you are awarded a certain number of points. If you break certain limits for point count, the system automatically places you as read-only, or bans you for X number of days. We are currently looking at 4 levels: 5-day, 15-day, 30-day, and perma. Point limit for each is being worked on.
Each infraction will also expire after a certain number of time. Infraction points will stack; infraction dates will overlap.
Example: I'm given two infractions: one for 30 points / 90 days, the other for 10 points / 15 days. My account will have a total of 40 points. After 15 days that will drop to 30 points, and after 90 days that will drop to 0 points.
We expect to have this system in place by the end of January. I'm leaving this thread open for questions. Whiners will be our guinea pigs.
