Alright, I only have one question... make that two.

1) Where are this kid's parents?

2) Is there any reason that I should support this kid's habbit/hobby by supplying him with a -WHITE ROCK- (chop-chop-chop, sniff sniff) {Sorry cutting Onions again}, in exchange for his Magic Kit? Sounds really Tyrone Biggums-ish to me... >.>

Also funny how you need to be "famous" to deal the "White Rock"... Just food for thought ^^

Try getting the Wonder Magic Set quest from the Taru kid in Lower Jeuno. Then the kid will probably give you the magic set for a White Rock.
 
It's a part of another quest. There's a "Merchant's House" that housees a family of Taru. The Taru child wants it, you can't GET the set, until you talk to the Taru kid, and that Taru child, asks for it.
 
Talk to Panta-Putta first in Lower Jeuno. A cut scene will happen with a cardian. Panta will ask for a Wonder magic set, then go talk to Karl.

BTW, Panta-Putta is in the house at H-10 of Lower Jeuno
