It took me foreva to beat maat on rdm but alas that would be where i got my practice.. and just for the record.. Ruby is a piece of cake compared to Maat.. >.>
But everyone told me the same thing.. so .. i took thier advise .. seeing thier rdm's where 75 lol.
 
Oh, and if all else fails you can just have Eleibfrid kill your rdm Maat for you.
 
I read somewhere on the internet that someone soloed ruby by throwing fish at him. True story. Someone else even mentioned that using spells would make it easier. After reading that, I don't understand how someone couldn't solo him as RDM, or even beat Maat with ease.
 
I'm so glad RDM wasn't my first 75. Tongan had to fight Maat something like 8 times. ~_~
 
the only trouble with maat is his resistance rates, other than that he can easily be lumped as a regular rdm nm.

and of course darksday and the highest enfeebling setup helps, he's doable at 66 but of course not easy, my first try was at 66 and I actually didn't do bad, I wasn't even trying to win but I knocked off a bit of his hp and landed a decent number of sleeps before I died. This was on a random day, like watersday as well.
 
Eh, I just -aga nuked and zoned, he walks back to the zone and the others depop. Sleep him there and go to town. Ruby is nothing to Maat, although admittedly I rushed in fighting Maat twice, and took too long in first fight. Four times total before win.

I am 0/5 on RDM Maat. I have had him down to about 39 percent before. (using the Aero III then Blink method. works Extremely well, if you go in on Darksday. the two times after that I have tried Windsday and Earthsday, by obvious mistake and haven't come that close. I am positive that the nexttime I try him on Darksday, (OR if I get 6 lvls on WHM and get him) I will finally have beaten him. 0/5 RDM Maat as of now.
 
i'm inclined to believe he has different levels of strength just like any other nm, hence why some believe it's luck sometimes

like my experience with him at 66
 
As far as I'm concerned his strength is set, it's just his AI is seriously borked. Some days he actually casts worthwhile spells on me, on my win he chainspelled and used... Aquaveil... and I think Blind or Fire II.

What's this Aero III then Blink Method? I've never tried to fight him without SS and Blink up at all times... When I chainspelled I didn't stop nuking till I was low on mp, then I spammed Sleep II till it stuck (one time), Converted, healed up with potions and finished him off with one more nuke.
 
Well, um, I have only tried the Aero III then Blink method three times. Windsday and Watersday is teh suck. I do the best I can, it's all I can do, lol
 
all i can say is, aero III is overrated, all of the other spells you have work fine as well, now if using CS then there's nothing wrong with Aero III spam.

I had Auster's remember? It was easily my best nuke by far. But yea, If you're going to nuke sleep hit him with Water first so you don't have to deal with the recast timer for when you Aero.

how does this work. ruby is not a nm. He's a mob like the other 2. Which is why i did it my way.
So why would they despawn and he walk back?
 
Ruby is an NM, he doesn't depop when you zone him.
