Movie The Kung Fu Ki... Er, The Karate Kid (Remake)

Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith star in the remake of The Karate Kid. Jaden Smith's single mother who moves him from the big city to Shanghai, where a group of martial artist street bullies pick on him. He's saved by Jackie Chan, who goes on to teach him to defend himself.

I know the original Karate Kid was probably the movie that began the fascination I had with martial arts and asian cultures from when I saw it in Kindergarten until well into my teens. I'll probably watch this for the nostalgia factor, and because I'll watch just about anything with Jackie Chan in it.

The choice of location for the remake makes me wonder if the title makes any sense, though. Are they betting on the sheer ignorance of their audience? From the trailer (on Yahoo! Movies), it sure looks like he's learning a kung fu variant rather than karate.

Oh well. They'll get my $10.

The Original looked like real karate.. lol this kid will be doing things he couldn't hope to do in real life. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that, but this is "Karate Kid" and it's not even close.
