Heck, it gets me excited!
I hope it's good.

More action than Shyamalan's entire directing career combined. I don't have high hopes for it -- how do you condense a story that much and still have something recognizable? -- but I'll see it. If nothing else, I need to gawk at the possible train wreck. If it sucks, I'll go back to watching my Airbender DVDs.

I want to believe, but he hurt me so much with The Happening...

The twist will be that Aang will be a ghost from the future who sweats a biotoxin that makes people kill themselves but no one can see him.

Shyamalaman is on a quest of redemption, because this looks good. Plus, the story is so awesome that he couldn't f*** it up even if he wanted. Unless he pulled one of his "famous" surprise endings just like Myrrh said.

I think the twist here is that M. Night Shyamalan is directing it.

Really, no need for any more surprises than that.

I'm seriously hoping that they're planning for the trilogy already and are going to make each season be it's own movie. There's no listing for Toph at all in the cast, and I can't imagine they'd leave out a major character(and the best one too) like that unless they weren't planning to introduce her until the Earth book like they did in the series.

Not a big fan of the director, but supposedly him and his kids are big fans of the show, so hopefully he'll do it justice.

I almost forgot who Toph was. For a minute after I read you mentioning her, I went like "?". But suddenly I remembered her and all the great storylines that came with her character. Earth Bender.

Now I'm more hyped than ever to see this movie. I sincerely hope Shyamalaman doesn't disappoint.

Guess i'm the only one that thought about "the golden child" after seeing the trailer. :P

Actually, as someone who has no idea what this is based off of (I'm guessin an Anime from the responses in here), I really did think it was a Golden Child remake until it pulled out to show the warships.

Quick reference. It's a Nickelodeon cartoon that try's hard to imitate an anime style and does a halfway decent job of it, providing interesting characters and a pretty good storyline.

I'm not a big fan of the show, but I have seen a few episodes and it looks like a decent cartoon. (I didn't think any of those still existed) All in all, just judging from the teaser really doesn't show us much but yet that little bit looked really good. I'll be able to make a better judgement once a full trailer comes out for it.

never been a fan of this style of anime, never have liked airbender/ naruto/ w/e (give me a good ole Hayao Miyazaki anime any day)

but this movie does look pretty cool.

I'll admit it.. I'm a fan of Avatar; seen them all. But that trailer (and narrator) is disappointing. It did make me think of Golden Child for a second. But Aang is bald....baby smooth bald (except for parts of Book 3) and his arrow is bright blue! Not that faded "forgot to shave there" look.

...and if that's the Southern Air Temple (judging by its locale) the Fire Nation didn't attack Aang there.

/grumble

Actually, the arrow looks more like intricate tattoo's on his head, not blue stubble. I don't know why they changed it regardless.

And it's just a teaser trailer--no saying that the fire nation will -actually- attack Aang right there n the movie :P

And also--this is my /grumble--all things change when they get ported to a movie from their original content. If things were exactly the same, then we might as well just watch the original, and the movie would be made in vain~! But yeah, that's my reply to alot of peoples distaste towards movie remakes and stuff.

I'm tired :(

High hopes, but low expectations.

I'm fairly certain Ang will turn out to be two midgets standing on eachother's shoulders, in a dream by Bruce Willis.

Y'all can talk all ya want about this Avatar stuff, but I still say the M. Night twist will be Eddie Murphy showin up at the end, officially proving this to be a Golden Child remake (and the end of both their careers, finally)

From what I've heard the actor/martial artist playing Aang already had that tattoo on his head before being cast. So.. that would be a reason why it's faded. Also.. c'mon, in reality you don't see bright ass blue tattoos on people unless they JUST got them. If the movie was animated or something I could see that, but it looks more realistic in appearance to have the tattoo the way he has it in the trailer. Keep in mind it was fairly dark and poorly lit in that room, so we really don't know just what shade of blue it is anyway. Also.. the guy playing Aang was bald, not sure how you missed that or thought he somehow wasn't. Looked pretty smooth to me.

I watched the series, and yeah it was an awesome series...if they make this a one movie thing...then well it's gonna be rushed because it's got backstory and blah blah blah.

can't wait though =D
