After browsing some threads on here, I've noticed quite a few people who are either present or past military, and I'm curious how many we have. I'd like to start a list, and maybe start a military LS.

The list:

I'll create a separate section. I know Khaj is in the Bahaman military (or is it Bermudan? I can never remember).

Hmmm, seems people have a thing for the Navy.

I'd post Navy jokes, but there are so many that I think I'd break QCDN's server =P

Seriously though, you guys have a tough job. 6 month stints out at sea really suck. The Merchant Marines do the same thing, but they get paid a LOT more for it.

Any other officers out there or are Greg and I it?

Darkdominion
Canadian Forces
Land based Signals Operator sort of like a synthesis of... Radio Operator/Maintainer (25C) Telecommunication Operator/Maintainer (25D) Information Technology Specialist (25B) Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer (25S) Signal Support Systems Specialist (25U) Signals Collector/Analyst (98Y).
Yup, Canadian forces, so undermanned we all do everything.

Always me, 0-1 (le /sigh) ABM

AFSC: If I told you I'd have to kill you.

Meh, its weird, in times of "Peace" we have 6 branches, but when times of "War" roll around, it just gets sucked up into those 3 main ones.

Marines and Coast Guard go under the command of the Navy
National Guard goes under the command of the Army.
Then there is the Air Force.

I really dont see why the do that. The Marines and Coast Guard are obviously capable of running themselves, even in war.

The National Guard is moot point because it usually does all the army stuff anyways.

The only thing really that the Marines need from us Navy folk are water transports. Otherwise they can rock it on their own.

Guard and reserve aren't a separate branch, they fall under the management of whatever type of guard they are (Army National Guard, Air Guard, etc).

Marines have always been a part of the Navy, except for a brief period when they fell under the Army.

The only one that actually changes is the Coast Guard which *can* get rolled up by the Navy, but that would only happen if there was a serious threat to the US as a whole (i.e. we're being invaded).

I saw what you said about ABMs ya jackass, pfff, yall need us, well maybe not you cuz you fly a heavy but the fighter pilots do... oh uh oh, hopefully i didnt strike a nerve, and if i didnt... Bah we can duke it out later.. lol and no no i dont care what ppl say, i will not salute you as an 0-2

Ha ha, Kal, just a joke. It's a friendly war between the front end and the back end (and it doesn't help that you guys outnumber us 5 to 1). But hey, we got the fasten seat belt sign =P
