The NeoLink Issue

Neolink will never be allowed to post here as a regular user, ever again.

Though I gotta give it to him, he sure is persistant. I mean, he has quite the determination. I don't know how he does it. I wish I had determination like that. To think, registering account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account after account, only to have whatever he has say disregarded. Disregarded and not believed by just about everyone on the forum, only to be deleted and banned shortly thereafter again. I don't know where he finds the determination to make an account and post anything when in the long run it has no meaning, at all.

Well, I hope you're reading this before you get banned again, because the mod staff has been manipulating you since the first time you created a sock puppet. There is a reason you're not IP banned yet, ya know. We've been running psycological data on the general userbase and decided to use you as a test subject. We didn't expect you to last this long, but it's nothing we can't handle. By registering all those usernames, you've been doing exactly what we've planned out for you to do without us even having to tell you. Tsk, shame we had to tell everyone though.

Because catering to Neolink gives him exactly the attention and power over this site that he's been trying to get, which encourages him to keep doing what he's doing. And it does *not* encourage him to give up and go away, if he thinks he might actually "win" whatever conflict or other he's imagined up in the first place.

Not to mention this gives him the authority to act out in whatever way he sees fit. And then claim the blame is on insert-person-X-here for not holding up their end of the bargain and thus somehow inciting him to do it (c'mon, that sounds like the sort of illogical BS he'd spout, admit it).

It's really not that hard to ignore him and just carry on your conversations as if he hadn't posted anything, and wait an hour or two for a mod to stroll along and remove his posts. IP banning would be good in the long run but it's really not too hard to just ignore him in the short run.

Garvin, I was here this morning. I know what the boards looked like before all the deletions. Frankly, the guy is imbalanced. Not all his clocks are ticking. I don't care what anyone says, the bottom line is, whatever Flymop said to him made him stop. Banning him hasn't done it (obviously). I'm not saying they have the power to do something and aren't. I'm saying what they have been able to do hasn't been working. And if negotiating or letting Neolink think he's won is really what it takes then who the hell cares. Let him think he's won. If it makes him stop, tell him he's king of freaking England. I'm not sure how making him stop, even temporarily, is making things worse. It's not making anything worse than sitting here wishing him away or pretending like that particular pink elephant isn't in the room.

I know exactly what the boards look liked too, I was also there. It didn't help. All it did was waste an hour of Flymop's time, give Neolink a win, and accomplished nothing for anyone else. Yeah, what they have been able to do isn't working... we know who's to blame for that. In the meantime, the second best course of action is what they've been doing.

He would simply loose interest if everyone would stop giving him the attention. Simply just stop mentioning him or posting about him and you might see some results... but then again you would have to have everyone do this and good luck with that. People feed off this stuff just as much a he does.

Let's not forget the madcap hilarity of soliciting comments and throwing in the caveat that we're not to provoke Neolink. There's no feedback you can give that wouldn't play into it somehow. I don't know what Neolink's original dispute is -- and more importantly, I don't give a flying fuck about it -- but someone who ignores repeated ban attempts by creating wave after wave of sock puppets isn't playing by the same "He was provoking me" rules as the rest of us and there's no reason to believe you can reach a negotiated settlement with him beyond "You stop posting, and we'll stop calling you an asshole."

My original post in this thread could be seen as provoking him if he just wants another excuse. I don't care if he's right or wrong, I just want him gone at this point because his private dispute has spilled over into my enjoyment of the site. In other words, it's none of my business but he's starting to make it my business, and that bugs me.

Well said. I don't think anyone could really ignore his mindless postings unless mods can somehow come into all of our individual options and put him on our ignore lists. Were that possible, they wouldn't have to ban him and he could post all the bullshit he wanted with no reaction from others. I for one, find his psychosis fascintating, but thats just me.

Fly had good intentions, though not realizing that Neolink would simply betray whatever 'trust' they created between themselves is slightly naive. I tend to do that myself. Silly of we that still have hope in human decency.

I'm just going to put the entire plot out there from what I know:

Neolink was a player and a QCDN member. He then proceeded to stalk Kerowynn and her end-game shell because of one reason or another. Hearing it from him it sounded like some holy justice tiraid or something. Anyway, it got to the point where some people had to get restraining orders on him or something and Tenkax banned him. Well, for one reason or another, not every moderator at that time had access to the Crime & Punishment board. Something to do with user restrictions and I think Reeve or Sculli only put in the most active mods.

So, Tenk asked me to post the write up of his banning on the Crime & Punishment board. I did, and that was about the same time I relinquished mod duties due to a lot of reasons. Well, I started back in-game at that point and I started getting crazy tells from Neolink. He thinks of me as a liar and likes to poke fun at my sexuality. Well, some crap happened and he got unbanned for one reason or another but then rebanned by Eleibfrid because he was messing up the boards with his usual douchbaggery.

He then follows Elei and myself to our own specific LS web-boards, he came to OwMyFace and asked to be let into the shell. Of course, him having a very tarnished reputation and a +10 of seriously creepiness factor we said lolno. Well, then someone tried to join the LS and we let them in. Neo through a shitfit and ended up being IP banned from our forums. He sent some pretty nasty PMs to me, which I still have saved somewhere... and generally messed up our forums. Well, anyway, we got that fixed and he followed me to TheBrotherhoods website in which he tried to pretend he was Garvin and trash talk everyone from Myrrh to Kage to myself.

He got banned off that website too, and he finally came back to QCDN to harrass Kero and Tenk again, this time with added fuel to the fire with his vendetta against Elei. He apologized to me in PM forum before he was banned for calling me a faggot, but I didn't respond. I don't really know where I stand with him (and, really don't care). Anyway, Cubswoo gave him 24 hours to bring up proof of his claims (which were that he was banned unjustly and that some people hacked or something), which he never brought up and was banned again.

So here we are. He keeps creating sockpuppets to screw up the forums and people are pissed about it. Flymop went the wrong way about doing with things (NEVER NEGOTIATE WITH A CRAZY PERSON) and that's a QCDN soap opera in a nutshell from my viewpoint. ;D
 
Guys explain to me one thing. How has it been a win to Neo? Since I've last talked to him, he has not posted nor created any other members contrary to what others have said.

As you can see from this, also from scrolling down the first page of QCDN, Cmdrflyishit is the last member created. Geuss what guys, thats the same member I was talking to all of this morning about this.

So for those of you who think Ive accomplished nothing, yet however, ive accomplished no new members or posts from him for a whole day which is a lot more then every other moderator put together has done in how many days this has been going on, where exactly do you think ive gone wrong?

Also seeing as not many/none of you fully read and understood my first post, the final outcome is down to the other moderators, if they all belive him to be banned then so be it, he will be and even if it doesnt really mean anything, he has agreed to adhere to it.

Do you know why he agreed? Because unlike every other moderator, I took time to actually talk to him about it and not just outright keep banning him as that obviously did not do a thing to help the matter.

If you still belive what I did was wrong then so be it. However do one thing, take the time to not be so arrogant and biased when it comes to matters like this, and however take time to look at exactly whats caused it, what exactly the matter is and what the best possible outcome can be. You will be a lot better respected for it.

-However if you want to carry on with this thread and others about him, remember this guys, youve just lost the game and we are all as wrong as each other.

He has been given more than enough chances (by the mods and by most of the community) to prove that there was some great injustice done to him. He claims there was but offers no more proof other than: "Look at Kerowynn's sig" which was made by Tenkax. So fucking what does that prove? Tenk & Kero are friends?

Not enough. Cubs told him to ante up and the kid didn't deliver. So now he's dirt. Cope.
 
Truthfully, I dont care what happens to him, I dont know him, even if I did, I still probably wouldnt care either way. Its the way all of the moderators have dealt with this HOWEVER have not said a thing about it except one small thread in the mod section about how much of a this and that Neolink is.

So what if I tryed a different tactic to every other Mod, how does that make me wrong?

So what deal did you make with him that is so amazing?
 
What caused it, in a nutshell, is that he is someone who can't take no for an answer, and can't handle rejection. Most people have enough social competence not to get themselves thrown out in the first place, and most of the rest have enough perspective to know a lost cause when they see one, and just shrug and move on to other social venues.

A part of me actually feels bad for him if that trait carries over into his RL interactions too. Would make employment and relationships rather difficult, to say the least.

It was, ultimately, his choice to make this long drawn out continual fuss with sockpuppets and necroposting and whatnot, rather than simply accept that he was banned and the community at large didn't want him here. Whether any issues in the past were fair or not is hardly the issue any more - at this point the community simply doesn't want him *because* of his sockpuppet post spamming.

He's been given a chance before to make his case, to have people listen to him, to hear his side, to talk to him, all the stuff you're talking about. And all he accomplished was to come across as even crazier (in a literal sense) than people had previously thought him. Go dig up that thread on the flameboard and read through it (yes, every last one of the posts) and see if you still think he'll act rationally here.

Rational discussion only works with rational people. Otherwise, giving him any sort of inch will just encourage him to stick around even more, which is the last thing we want.

They hardly need to make a post about him on the mod board detailing what he's like and what he's done - at this point it's common knowledge, to mods and anyone else. Except, of course, to people who haven't been around a while. To whom I just have to say, do your homework before acting. :P

Ok, having been a moderator on numerous boards/groups before, something like this should be kept to your own private area. I know most of us, myself included, like watching the drama. Maybe even egging it on. But while you're trying to put up a professional front, digs like that shouldn't be made about the people you're 'on a team' with. Just me, think what you will, it's simply personal opinion. I'm officially done with this thread, have at 'em kids.
 
Acting without prior knowledge or opinion to a matter is the best way to go about it. However that obviously only applies to real life, obviously the internet operates in a seperate manner which I have not come to terms yet.
