It's going to be exclusively a team-based FPS with no rpg elements. The general gameplay seems to be similar to Unreal Tournament and Quake 3. I can't believe how badly Microsoft ruined Shadowrun. The game itself is nothing at all like Shadowrun. It does seem a bit fun though.

For those of you that don't know what Shadowrun is, it started as a cyberpunk P&P game in '89. More info can be found here:

Microsoft has finally unveiled their Shadowrun FPS computer game for X-box 360 and Windows Vista. Fair warning, however: Microsoft rewrote the timeline and setting for this game, so it is not in continuity with the tabletop RPG. It may be more accurately described as a game loosely based on Shadowrun.

Are there any other Shadowrun fans in the community? What do you think?

This has got to be a hoax,or at least a horrible nightmare. There's nothing about Shadowrun that should justify the punishment of evolving into a pure FPS.

Goddamn these crotchety-ass suits that have never played a video game in their life, concerned only with market polling data and "focus groups."

Goddamn them. T_T

These people are the reason we have Olsen Twins versions of Dance Dance: Revolution.

The video does look cool . . . it's just a shame that other than the imagery of Shadowrun it's not really anything like the original RPG. I'm sad in that I always hoped that Shadowrun would someday be made into an MMO-style game; it has a lot of potential for that scenario. A Shadowrun FPS means they'll never do that.

I'm kinda sad, actually. Shadowrun has a lot of nostalgia value for me, it was my first tabletop RPG. Having it turned into a FPS game means I won't be playing it, as the first-person perspective games always give me headaches. ;_;
