After screwing up my first attempt on that old bastard Maat yesterday and running out of time, I went back in today with a fresh White Mage Testimony (mucho thanks to Neyla for going to Cape Terrigan with me to get it) and won.
I tanked him with an Earth Staff and a Medicine Earring for the physcial damage reduction, a Druid's Rope and Healer's Duckbills to reduce spell interruption, and used Shallops Tropicale as food. Otherwise it was my normal WHM gear.
I went in naked, Protect IV and Shell IV'd myself, and equipped all my gear while I was resting back my MP. Then I popped a Yagudo Drink, cast Aquaveil and pulled him with Paralyze (which didn't stick). Then it was basically Cure III spam.
Over the course of the fight I used two yag drinks and eight mulsums. I didn't use any of the Hi-Potions or ethers or my Vile Elixer. Maat paralyzed me a couple times, but I always got it off quickly. Right near the end he used Dragon Kick and sent me into the red, at which point I used Benediction.
I don't know how long it'll take me to get to 75 considering the other jobs I'm leveling and all that, but at least I have this particular roadblock out of the way. It feels good... damned good.
Again, thanks to Neyla for that testimony. I was going to log out and play Metal Gear Solid 3 before he asked me if I wanted to farm a new one.
