Hiya, QCDN. It's been a while. A looong while.

Just a few minutes ago, sitting here bored at my computer, I decided to google my FFXI character's name, for no appereant reason. This site came up on the list, and I thought I'd come check it out again.

Well, I didn't really remember the last time I came here, or what all was going on. So I decided to look at my old posts, see what all I had said.

Oh, wow.

Why didn't you people just drive up to my house and slap me right there? XD

This is a formal apology to the community for playing MNK/RDM (without weapons for a time. LOLLowerDelay!). And for leveling WAR with a Polearm and bitching about being told to use a greataxe. And when I switched from MNK/RDM to.... MNK/SAM. My constant bitching about both the dunes and the cookie-cutter feel of the game. Calling people n00bs... when I was a MNK/RDM. For being a jerk to WolfSkyMoon.

I almost want to apologize for being an ass to Roofie... but I just can't >.>

So what horrible affronts did you guys commit in your early days? This isn't so much a topic about selling crystals to NPCs or throwing away Beastman's Seals as it is one about playing a BLM/NIN so you could dual-wield wands for extra INT, or WAR/WHM because you wanted to be a PLD.

For the record, I still think the community needs to loosen up. >.> At level 13, the difference between polearm and Gaxe skill is a whole three points.

Even so, I still go after optimal output from any job I play these days, even by three points.

You do realize that at level 13, a "whole three points" is EXACTLY one levels worth of skill for an A grade weapon? Maybe thats why you were getting bitched at, because you were a level 13 Warrior, effectively fighting as a level 12 Dragoon, minus Attack Bonus, Jump, and the Wyvern. So that same level 12 Dragoon, with the same skill, would've been doing more damage than you because of those abilities/traits.

I used polearm too back when I was a noob lvlin war to 30 first  I did it though because I was planning on being a drg once war hit 30 so people told me to use polearm for some reason ^^

I leveld warrior to 30 with a 1h sword and shield, we all make mistakes.

Luckily i remade my characters like 7 times before i got a good result lol. went war to 18, thf to 30, got drg, took drg to about 30, got war to 28, and i went spastic on all the other jobs for about a few months. lol me and my in-game ADHD. Now im broke and stuck, i guess i shouldnt have sold my tele scrolls...

...Except you have the warrior's job traits and abilities, and your main stats still go up. Equipping a spear doesn't remove all of those. The only thing that's gimped about you is those three points, and, I'll concede, if you could be using an axe with a higher DPS.

Besides, all else being equal, a DRG will outdamage a WAR at that level. Attack Bonus > Defense Bonus for DD. Pre-Berserk, WAR just has their STR, DEX, and DPS to rely on.

And yes, also, I know you would be doing less damage. That's obvious. But I don't think three points of skill really matters all that much. expecially in the dunes. When you get later on, missing some important WSs will really effect it, of course. Then it really starts to matter. But at level twelve, Raiden Thrust really isn't going to outdo Double Thrust.

I'm not a MNK/RDM fighting barefisted anymore, and I haven't been for probably almost two years, if not more. I do think about what I say before it comes out of my mouth. And I do know the game fairly well now. I'm aware that the damage will be less, what I'm saying is that it's not enough for me to care. Obviously you have a different viewpoint on this. I respect that; it's why, back in the day, I finally leveled WAR as my sub. Now days I do it because I like doing so much the NIN can't even get the mob to look at him. I won't be gimping your EXP flow, and all I ask is that you don't come in here and shit on my opinion like I was a floundering nooblet who started last week.

...

Wow. Two posts and I'm already caught up in drama. That's QCDN allright >.>

At anyrate, none of this has nothing to do with the topic, really, so I'm going to shut up now and stay that way :D

LOLraidenthrust... I thought it was thunder thrust that came next... o well, anyway any elemental WS on polearm sucks ass. Most ive ever gotten in an exp pt with vorpal thrust *light ele right?* was about 226, and maybe 186 thunder thrust at lv 66. Sry for walking off path there. I personally look at the long-term effects of weilding a weapon, like how it will reflect on my lvling capability when im lv 60 with nothing but polearm leveled... But on drg i dont have that problem, war I would assume would be in a sh*thole if axe and greataxe isnt lvled.

Hey Des! o.o lol Ehh If you were in my pt at THAT lvl I wouldn't give a shit XD But I dunno other people do....I just have fun and hey if you're doing good damage wtf is there to complain about? Hmmm well anyways welcome back and see you around.

Btw, sorry about the other night when I had to go.

When I first started as rdm of course, and then unlocked my subjob, I went to lvl war as subjob to sub with my rdm, and wanted to take that combo all the way up lol.

I'm glad when I mentioned it in the first LS I was in, Kinklink, Kinkkerbelle told me about the benefits if i went /blm for example, and when she mentioned about having warp with /blm sub, I decided to go rdm/blm.

Glad I did that instead of taking rdm/war up and being called a complete noob. Then like most blms do when they first start, as soon as I got stonega I used that while exping blm on lizzies... and yeah, our pty soon got pwned by a bunch of them, as I didn't know anything about Area of effect spells yet, I just thought anything with ga was just a stronger form of the spell.

Gotta love the good old days :D

XD can you say Furyrush? lv75rdm/war in wajaom constantly spamming his claim macro on lesser colibri >.> either a really eager colibri NPCseller or one messed up newb (yes there are 75newbs)

Furyrush is a gilseller.

I was thinking that because of what someone said... but he only kills stuff solo... new era of gilsellers perhaps?

Polearm wielding elv war/whm >.>;

Oh man, I was a GSD/Scythe wielding WAR/THF before I got it to 30. >_>

My first job was that of a melee rdm, and I quit playin rdm because I couldn't afford Phalanx.

As a Blm, I didn't get a full set of elemental staves till 65 or so.

Yeah...sooo did that. Not on lizzies but it had the same effect on my party!

Except when you're missing because you're basically fighting as if you're one level under your target, thats when it does matter much. If they wanted a level 12 Dragoon, I'm sure they would have invited one. Landing attacks on high T/VT mobs is already a pain in the ass as is at lower levels, opting to reduce your accuracy and attack further below their evasion and defense is just.. well, stupid.

You sure don't know what drama is, and must have one weak psyche if you think that was some for of attack. You even admit you made mistakes, yet still defend them. If I make a mistake, I go "Wow, that was dumb of me," not "Jesus Christ, loosen the hell up guys lol."

My brother leveled WAR/MNK to 51 with sword and shield... back when FFXI first came out, though, and before people knew blink tanking was even possible.

Not new, old. Furyrush is one of the oldest gilsellers out there, he's part of the Kreb's crew. He does Dynamis and Ks99s and the like, so my guess is he's killing colibri for IS and kindred seals.

your forgiven for being a whinny newb, but theres no need to apologize for being a jerk to WSM or roofie. thats only natural.
