I have ~4000 songs on my ipod, and, as I recently realized, there's very few albums that I enjoy as a cohesive whole. There's usually always mediocre/awful songs, even on "great" albums. So, I inquire, what are your examples of the "perfect" album? (needs to work well as a whole, and all tracks must be good-great-classic)

My contributions:
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists
The Velvet Underground - VU w/ Nico
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation

All I can think of atm.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
The Beatles - Rubber Soul/Revolver
Tool - Ænima
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Pearl jam - Ten/VS.
Primus - Pork Soda/The Brown Album
Jimi Hendrix - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Radiohead - OK Computer
Alice in Chains - Unplugged in New York/Dirt
Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson - VH1 Story Tellers
CCR - Chronicle 1 & 2
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Bob Marley - Legend
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Everybodyfields - Nothing is OK
Beck - Odelay
NIN - The Downward Spiral

Then there are people who don't make music that I don't like. Even shitty drunken performances with bad sound quality are awesome.

Sublime
Nirvana
Crash Test Dummies
Flaming Lips
Jack Johnson
Tom Petty
NOFX

Nice idea for a thread.

Geez, I own hundreds and hundreds of CD's, and I honestly can't think of one album that I truly love every song from. Odd, coming from me, because I'll be the first one to scream at someone in the car for skipping tracks. I listen to CD's from one end to the other, no interruptions, and no skipping songs (Unless they are just God-awful, rare occasion).

The ones that come the closest for me and my music tastes are:

Coheed and Cambria - In keeping secrets of silent earth 3
Thrice - Artist in the Ambulance
Skynyrd - 40 (Though thats a greatest hits CD, which shouldn't really count...)
Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever

Damn, I'm gonna have to do a huge search to see if I can find anymore. Good topic.

MxPx - Teenage Politics
Talib Kweli - The Beautiful Struggle
Kanye West - Late Registration
Thrice - Artist in an Ambulance
Thrice - The Illusion of Safety
DJ Deckstream - Deckstream Soundtracks
The Strokes - Room on Fire
The Sword - Age of Winters
Binary Star - Masters of the Universe
Camp Lo - Uptown Saturday Night
Blink 182 - Enema of the State
Blink 182 - Take off Your Pants and Jacket
Common - Be
Da Grassroots - Passage Through Time

Mix of shit I listen to now and shit I used to listen back in middle school/Freshmen year.

I listened to the album Serj Tankian just released...
There isn't one I didn't like >.>
I'll add that!

Serj Tankian - Elect the Dead

I contributed.

And other than that, I hardly ever listen to the whole album of things...

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
The Beatles - Rubber Soul/Revolver
Tool - Ænima
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Pearl jam - Ten/VS.

Primus - Pork Soda/The Brown Album
Jimi Hendrix - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Radiohead - OK Computer
Alice in Chains - Unplugged in New York/Dirt
Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson - VH1 Story Tellers
CCR - Chronicle 1 & 2
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Bob Marley - Legend

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Everybodyfields - Nothing is OK
Beck - Odelay
NIN - The Downward Spiral

Bolded among my favorite albums. Real masterpieces.

Word yo.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
No such track exists. Perhaps you mean Brain Damage/Eclipse?
There is no dark side of the moon really, as a matter of fact it's all dark.

I think I like way too much music to condense all my favorites into one album, but I'll try...it'll be a long album. (song - artist)

...And Justice For All - Metallica
Harvester of Sorrow - Metallica
For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica
Sweet Leaf - Black Sabbath
Digging Up the Corpses - DevilDriver
Push It - Static-X
People=Shit - Slipknot
Fueled by Hate - Droid
Nemesis - Arch Enemy
Lateralus - Tool
Hooker With A Penis - Tool
Ticks and Leeches - Tool
Three Little Pigs - Green Jello
Prison Song - System of a Down
Nothing to Gein - Mudvayne
Dig - Mudvayne
Silenced - Mudvayne
Omerta - Lamb of God
Hourglass - Lamb of God
Stupify - Disturbed
Down With the Sickness - Disturbed
12 Hundred - Mushroomhead
Lazarus - Chimaira
Let It All Bleed Out - Rob Zombie
Walk - Pantera
Bück Dich - Rammstein
The Outsider - A Perfect Circle
Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
...and probably a few more that I just can't think of right now.

It's a shame no one here listens to any of this - except maybe one or two of you listens to one or two of these groups.

Excali you took the wrong direction. It's not make up your perfect album, it's the perfect album released from a single band already.

For me (in addition to many already mentioned):
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Dave Matthews Band - Under the Table and Dreaming
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory (full cd including My December)
Daft Punk - Discovery
Lifehouse - No Name Face
John Mayer - Continuum
KT Tunstall - Eye to the Telescope
Billy Joel - Piano Man
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced
Led Zepplin - Led Zepplin IV and Physical Graffiti

I could go on for days but that's pretty much the set that's on straight play through when the album comes to mind.

I have 5:

Human Clay - Creed
Don't you fake it - RJSA
Meteora and Minutes to Midnight - LP
The Beautiful Letdown - Switchfoot

Those are 5 CD's I listened through and could not pick a song I did not like.

The Offspring came close, as did Smashing Pumpkins.

I know...now
I like my idea better >.> Almost every album has at least one track that's not that great...but ok, now that I've made a retard of myself I guess I'll do it right.

...And Justice For All - Metallica
Lateralus - Tool
Killadelphia - Lamb of God

Yup, that's about it.

Here's a few.

Coheed and Cambria - All of their albums, Second Stage a bit less though.
Maroon 5 -Songs About Jane
The Black Mages - The Skies Above and self titled
Jurassic 5 - Power In Numbers
Incubus - When Incubus Attacks Vol. 1(acoustic/live, very awesome)
Rise Against - Siren Songs Of The Counter Culture
Linkin Park - All of the albums, including Collision Course
Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Let's Face It
Outkast - Stankonia
Panic At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

Bunch more, that's all I feel like listing for now.

Saosin - Self Titled
The Dangerous Summer - If you could only keep me alive EP
Dashboard Confessinal - MTV Unplugged Vol.2 (fucking crazy i was there for it)
Flylead - Music as a Weapon EP

Mae - Destination Beautiful
Mae - Destination Beautiful (B-Sides)
Incubus - Make Yourself
Death Cab for Cutie - EVERY FUCKING ALBUM

For CDs where I listen to all of the songs I would go with:

Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight, Meteora and Hybrid Theory
Kanye West - Graduation
Bob Marley and The Whalers

I don't buy many albums since I wind up skipping over several songs... Honourable mention to Natalie Imbruglia's Left of the Middle offhand. If I find any others, I'll add them to the list.

Metallica - S&M
Saosin (as stated before)
Linkin Park - Reanimation
Chamillionaire - Ultimate Victory
Alexisonfire - Crisis
Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing

All I can think of right now.

All "perfect album" means to me is 'no fillers'.

... Screw it, Add Chamillionaire's Ultimate Victory to the list. I was quite surprised with it - for a Rap album anyway. I like rap, but I gave up trying to defend liking it a long time ago, so don't bother asking me why.

EDIT: Honourable mention: Utada - Exodus

Wow, either alot of you are very open-minded and accepting when it comes to music, or you don't take the word 'perfect' very seriously.

I'm very open when it comes to music, however I'm taking this 'perfect' thing a bit lax. I'm just putting down the albums that I really like as a whole, since for me, while I'm very open to music, it's hard to find a whole album I'll sit through repeatedly.

Slow riot for new zero kanada by Godspeed you Black Emperor
the perfect drug by NIN
no leaf clover by metallica
awful by Hole
you could easily have had me by Metronomy
Make me Bad by Korn
Slam by Pendulum
Bobby Brown goes down by Frank Zappa
Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Bran-New love song by The Pillows

EDIT: Honourable mention: Utada - Exodus

Exodus is one of my all-time hated groups. Excellent instrumentals, had so much potential to be so awesome, but they completely shat all over their vocals. It's like they completely ignored putting any effort into their vocals whatsoever. I don't know the name of the dude who sings for them, but he's one of the worst vocalists I've ever heard in my life. Stupid assholes.

I like pretty much all my albums as a whole. I've never bought an album just for a few songs on it. Usually when I buy an album, I'll sit there and listen to it for a week straight, really taking it in. Some bands I can listen to an album over and over for a few days even years after I bought it..I mostly just do that with Tool and Metallica though.

Incubus - Make Yourself
First album I thought of.

I'll add a couple
Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

Alright, the last isn't perfect because of one ridiculous track, but I included it anyway because the rest of the cd is so goddamned good. And because I deleted the one track off my iPod and forgot all about it. But still, it's kind of sad I can only list three cd's that I'm well and truly satisfied with.
