Say you're in a God LS that does 15 Gods a week along with at least 5 HNM and various other little mobs that can still be mugged. Being a Thief, you probably think Mug is a PoS move that isn't worth anything. I know I thought that for awhile. Consider this.

You have been in the LS for a year. 52 weeks, 1040 if not more Gods/HNMs in that year. This is assuming it's a LS that does what it's called btw. Now let's assume you Mug for 3-4k because you have the AF2Hat. Let's average it at 3500.

1,040*3,500=3,640,000Gil from 1 Ability for free, now this is also considering you only mug once per God/HNM. It also doesn't include Hktk runs, Ose, Wyvernpoacher, Sozu Rogberry and various other NMs. Also Mugging the Pop NMs in Sky can yield the same amound as mugging from a God itself. So let's assume in this year you mugged 500NMs other than the ones your LS hunts.

3,640,000 + 1,750,000=5,390,000Gil
That alone is more than some players make in a year and it's only off that one move. It doesn't even include money from the drops you get or the money from the Gil itself that they drop.

Powerful isn't it?

Now let's look at another funny scenario. Mobs can be Mugged multiple times as long as it's not all at once. So let's say there are 18 Thieves in an alliance living in The Boyahda Tree. All they ever do is fight Aquarius and for the fun of it, let's assume that they never kill it, and that they are never interupted for a year.

365 Days -> 8,760 Hours -> 525,600 Minutes -> 18 Thieves -> 630,720 Mugs

Let's assume they get an average of 2k per Mug.
1,261,440,000Gil would be the conclusion. Kind of interesting. Borderline impossible, but interested.

So anyway, I've been hearing rumors here and there that Mug lowers the chance of getting drops on these Gods/HNMs/NMs and because of this I can't Mug them. Now until I see some concrete proof that it does in fact lower drop rates, if anyone tells me that I can't mug without showing that proof, I'd like 3k every 15 minutes while fighting.

Thanks!

There is no proof. Its crap like the 4 bud mandy and lucky egg. Stupid people believe them, and make life harder to others by telling them not to mug and stuff :P

Hey I heard a rumor using Voke lowers the chance of drops too. Lets not voke anymore!

I heard a rumour that hitting things kills them.

But yeah. Mug away, Thiefs. Don't listen to people who don't have mug, if it crippled the chance to get good drops, it would say it in the description of the ability.

I thought the amount mugged decreases every successful mug? Maybe you get 3k the first time but the next you only get 2k. Not sure but I noticed during Ohat runs, the first mug was always the most and every one after that was less.

I promise you that if you damage an enemy it will lower the chance of drop!

I can prove it I did dmg to a NM and when it died it didn't drop the item I wanted... Now spread the word.

I'm not sure about the respawn of mugable gil, but last time I fought Hktk I got 2700 first Mug then 2300 second, so that very well might be true.

Right on, this rumor is a load of horse ****.

Hmmm... THF...

Perhaps I should become one somewhere down the road...

Sometime after finishing BRD...

Its too bad with thf sub I mug less than 1k on anything :|

The rumour is about Mug decreasing drop rates, not how much gil you can get.

Also you missed the major point. You're making that 3 mil/year on the side while you're already occupied, not while you're farming or doing mercenary work.

..

lol how long does it take to get a key as a thf?

citidel key usually drops within the first 30 min..

i've gotten it on 1'st-5'th kill almost every time.. only about 10 of the atleast 50 keys ive had have actually taken longer than 5-10 min..

also, i've done the lv50 paper quest for 200k.. took 1 and a half rounds of all of the liches on the top floor to get it..

and i was replying to the original post where they are saying "mug is awesome because you can make millions a year"..mug IMO isnt that great, but i still use it on monsters it applies to.. if im killing a gob in a party, why not mug it? its there.. use it lol..

Again..

You're making extra gil on the side during something thats already overly time consuming(sky.)

How is that a bad thing? No ones saying you can't make more money doing something else. The entire post was based off of mugging while you're already occupied, and how little amounts can add up to something notable after a while.

And wow oh wow you charge a lot for helping people :?

..

you may think i charge alot but ALOT of ppl have asked me for help with their AF.. and usually i didnt take less than 80k a piece.. if they thought it wasnt worth it i wouldnt have had ppl ask me to do their ENTIRE AF's for them.. so they pay alot but i get them what they want quickly and easily..

Or.. you could just say, sorry, I can't help you right now. And politely turn them down. Or if you had the time to spare (assuming they arent a complete stranger) just help them out... *gasp* free.

I can understand charging gil for some complete stranger that walks up and wants you to help them. But what the hell.. do you like see someone shouting for help and then interject that you'll help them for x amount of gil?

I know I'd tell you to piss off if you did that to me, because if I wanted a merc id ask for one. Or offer a reward for help in the shout. I have never asked for merc help or paid for help. Best way to get things done is to get them done with friends or others you know that need to accomplish the same things.

Merc work is retarded, and unnessicary, it's sad that people even make money this way because others simply can't think. I guess some people just like wasting gil when they don't have to. Suppose that's your target audience, the stupid ones.

If no one will help the person with whatever they need help with, what's wrong with them willing to pay for help?

For example, say someone is moving to a new home because their kids have moved on and their current house is too big. They ask their kids to help move their furniture so they don't have to pay a moving company to do it for them. The kids are busy with work or just flat out say no. What are the parents supposed to do? The parents pay a moving company for the services they can render.

I'm not saying its wrong for someone who needs help to pay for it.. (though it shouldn't be nessicary). I'm saying.. you shouldn't have to pay for help, unless ofcourse you have no friends and are a total loser and cant get anything accomplished by any other means than paying for it...

Oh and with the real life example.. ask other friends or realatives if they would be interested in helping you out. Don't ask all at once.. but just go up some mental list of whoever pops in your head that you know that might be able to help you out. I can garentee there will be someone there who wont mind lending a hand. Paying for things like that is for A) last resorts, you've asked everyone you could think of that might have been able to help you out and they just couldn't. or B) You've got the money to waste so its no big deal you contact the so called "professionals" from the get go. Option C) You do everything yourself, it takes a lot longer and tires you out, but you'll eventually get it done.

We're not all fortunate enough for option B.
