I was sitting in a doctors office, minding my own business, and they had the news on... of course it was election '08 stuff. Obama was on, and one of the other patients, a black man, announced "Obama is gonna be the first black president... assassinated..." I was like, wow. He said what I didn't expect him to say, and I am aware that most people I've talked to also think that way.

My dad says this all the time. He claims that there's too many old powerful white families in the U.S. that won't allow him to be president and if he does become it he'll be taken care of.

I don't really know what to say to it. I hate it really, and I don't want to say that he's right.
 
You can't really know what a truly dedicated and fucked up person with a gun will try to do, but at the very least those racist idiots will have to live with the fact that Obama got elected despite their feelings about black people staying "in their place." Fortunately their numbers are dwindling, although it's going to take a long time before those dinosaurs finish tumbling into history's tar pits.

Besides, John "You Kids Get Off My Lawn" McCain is 72 and has cancer. What are the odds he's going to survive his first term?
 
If Obama is elected he won't be assassinated. Sometime after the attempt on Reagan the secret service really got their shit together. If Bush hasn't been killed, Obama will be alright. I'm not saying Bush is deserving or anything like that, just that a lot of people hate him - and the coverage of the RNC shows how off the rocker a lot of these people are.

Not saying he's sure to get elected though. If it was going to be a Democrat, personally I'd have preferred Clinton by a very large margin.
