The Red Lights

So every once in a while my 360 just decides not to work, and gives me the 3 quarters flashing red lights, now ive talked to xboxsupport and they explain this problem can be fixed for no fee if they determine thats what the problem is.

So im guessing the 3 quarters red light is for one specific problem, i was wondering if anyone knew exactly what that was or if they had anyt tips because this isnt permanent for my 360, it either doesnt work for a few hours or a few days and im afraid of sending my xbox in, them getting it in a few weeks and catching it ona "good day" (when it works) and them sending it right back

Any suggestions?

Oh hi, you must be new to xbox. 3/4 red lights = RRoD or Red Ring of Death. When that happens send it in, because more than likely it wont fix itself and will only get worst.

lol alright well sorry i figured the "red ring of death" would actually be a ring, no need to really be a smartass about it

um you said everyone once in a while, which means it could be the console wires make sure they are in properly as if it is loose it gives the rings too

When the wires aren't in its a full red ring rathe than 3/4 red ring.

But yeah, send it in.

I had the same ordeal with my first one. I had no problems gettin' it fixed. So I'd just send it in.

If you're afraid they'll catch it on a "good" day and not get the issue, leave your Xbox on for a few days straight. Weeks are better if you can manage it. That'll drive the nail a little further in the coffin.

Maybe put it close to a heater too... the issue stems from overheating so anything you can do to exaggerate that effect will help.

The specific issue is that there is one lol. Actually it could be multiple things within the machine.

Send it in, get it over with. It won't cost you anything, AND they won't catch it on a good day. Mine only did that perhaps once a month, that was enough however to annoy me as a consumer lol!!

I believe mine was a vid card or sound card. Something like that. 5 days it took to get a new one back (new used I'm sure). It smelled new and plasticy ^^

Yea, i actually had to send mine in too, missed the whole ffxi x-mas event (and i had wanted to get the santa gear this past year ; ; ). Man, everyone has a problem with this system mg: ...i kno at least 1/2 my friends had to send theirs in once :/ <3 my 360 tho. When in doubt, send it in :biggrin: sadly they just replaced one piece in my system...wanted a new one lolz >.>
