THIS IS NOT AN SE SANCTIONED TOURNAMENT.
THIS IS NOT ANOTHER CROSS SERVER MATCH.

This is a post on how to have our own since it doesn't seem to be coming back anytime soon.

II. Admin
III. Rules
IV. Dates & Times
V. Rewards

I. Idea

This idea is not my own. It was kicking around the LS one night and more of an amusing thought than anything. I've decided to see if there would be enough interest to actually do it. I'm more than aware that not everyone on the server comes to this board and especially non-English speakers. However, if there's only six people separating you from Kevin Bacon, I'm sure word will get out.

The idea is simple: replicate the original tourney as closely as possible without the spamming of medicines. Although we talked about having an entry fee and cash prize for the victors, I feel this undermines the purpose of the tournament. As with the original Olympics, it's not about money, it's about friendly competition and for the victors, glory.

II. Admin

Scheduling and record keeping will be handled by myself and any volunteers. Donation of Diorama time is also welcome and appreciated. For the enforcement of rules, players may not directly host their own matches but are free to sponsor any they are not personally taking part in.

A rep must be present during at match to act as referee and record the match results.

III. Rules

As stated, the idea is to get as close to the original tournament with a few exceptions. The spamming of medicines and using multi-million gil items will be thrown out; items will be turned off and certain pieces of gear will be banned. This is an effort to make it less about how many potions and Merc Krises you can get your hands on and make it fairer to more players. Players spotted using banned items in a match will be immediately disqualified and their match forfeit in favor of their opponent.

Here are the rules so far (mostly copied), subject to change:

- Six players per team per match, team name required for admin's sake
- 10 total players can be on any given team, changed in between mataches
- Each team must have different jobs for all of its match participants
- Support Jobs disabled
- Max Level: 60
- Match Length: 20 minutes
- Match style: All or nothing
- 1st Petra selection: Not allowed
- Petra holes: Some empty
- One-time scoring limit: 3 per player
- Number of Rooks: 1
- Petral shovel usage: Allowed
- Temporary item distribution: Yes
- Voucher exchange: Not allowed
- Items: disabled
- Match entry/entry cancellation will not be allowed after the breifing period
- Teams that show up late or do not have the six required players will forfeit the match
- In the case of a draw, the team with the high scorer will be declared the winner. If there is no high scorer, there will be a rematch immediately if possible, if not it will be scheduled at a later date

Banned items list

I'm sure this is going to piss people off, especially since some of them have rare/ex versions that can be obtained without being bought. Yes this is asking some players to gimp themselves if they have these items. All that it means is you'll be beating people without the aid of your bank roll. Sorry in advance!

Cross-Counters/Retaliators
Mercurial Kris
Eurytos' Bow/Vali's Bow
Speed/Velocious Belt
Toreador's Ring
Sniper's Ring +1

These are items that I'm undecided on. None of them are particularly overpowered (save a possible Soboro) but I'll get some feedback on them before making a decision

CoP/ToAU rings
Dark Mezraq +1
Soboro Sukehiro
PCC
Haub +1

IV. Dates & Times

As this is all theoretical at this point, no dates will be announced for sure at this time. I'm leaning towards March 09 since that was the same time the official Royale took place but we'll see how it goes.

Matches will be held on weekends only. Every effort will be made to schedule at the time zone that best fits the two different teams. Please understand that this is a NA effort and unless help comes from players in different countries, convenient match times may be difficult.

V. Rewards

There are two ways to go about this, the first of which is the one I support but both are being presented.

The first method is a simple trophy with no monetary value that will be handed out to the final, champion team. While unfortunately it cannot be Ex, it will be signed in order commemorate the occasion. I am willing to make a mule with a name like "Champion" "Victor" "Superawesomeballistaplayer" etc and lvl its craft skill in order to make said trophies. Such items will only be made the victorious team, ever.

The second is to require an entrance fee that will ultimately become the grand prize for the winning team. Something like 30-50k per person to ensure a big pot for whoever wins. The prize money will be divided evenly among all 6-10 members of a team; please keep this in mind when forming. Commemorative trophies will not be made should this be the course of action.

The first method will be the default one unless there is enough demand for the second. I disapprove of it as it was never part of the first Royale and goes against the idea of competing as a test of skill. It will not be ruled out, though.

Whew. Taking all comments, feedback, ideas, responses. And no, SAMs, RNGs and MNKs, I'm not trying to pick on you. XD

Why would you ban PCC? PCC is retarded in FFXIs PvP(which is quite lol and even more unbalanced than its PvE) since you don't need anywhere near the amount of accuracy you need to level, since everyones the same level as you. And since the accuracy on it is fairly useless in this situation, it's just a huge giant dark resist debuff hogging up your neck slot.

The npc already has a mode to set the rules like that. Its only lvl 60 let them keep whatever they want and use whatever items, at lvl 60 no one has an advantage.
